  1. Been feeling under the weather lately, so I wasn't able to get the water changed on the 75 gal this weekend like I planned. BUT, I was able to get it done today. Cleared out duckweed and such. My supervisor overlooked the whole process and made sure to get in the way often.
  2. My experience with the new tabs was much like Cory's video: it disintegrated very quickly and fell off the glass within less than 10 minutes or so (I mean it was still food my fish enjoyed, but the glass time is the fun part!). BUT, that was at least a year ago or more. Perhaps they did adjust the formula! I'd be interested to see more feedback with newly bought packs.
  3. I don't have an aquatic turtle, but I do have a 20 year old russian tortoise. :3 Plants are what really got me going in this hobby, watch out they're addicting! I'm going to be an enabler and say do a betta tank. I have a little 5 gallon for a betta, but just think of the plants you could put in an even bigger aquarium. 😉 Welcome to the forum!
  4. I sing to mine because I'm a complete weirdo. My catfish gets to hear "Pooka-de-doo-dah" (like zip-a-dee-doo-dah only catfish themed). My bichirs get to hear me sing "Pyewacket in flight, polypterus delight!" (like "Afternoon Delight," my female is named Pyewacket). I also just talk to them. I ask them how they're doing and what their thoughts are on the current world events. Maybe some day they'll answer.
  5. Maybe work on "perfecting" each tank? Get into aquascaping and give each tank a makeover. Try to seek that perfect balance of never "needing" to change water. Try out new methods and themes.
  6. I like Xtreme over Hikari simply because it's in a jar. I like that better than the pouch.
  7. Just a word of caution, when using the two antibacterial meds together; I accidentally nuked my hornwort and almost killed my bolbitis fern (lost a whole year's worth of growth on it, I was so bummed!). I had no issue with the cycle, though.
  8. I feed my culls to my ctenopoma and bichirs.
  9. Welcome to the forum! I love how carefully you documented your adventures in the hobby, this was a fun read! That gourami is gorgeous and your cories are totally cute.
  10. Pooka's been on a kick lately where she's really into sucking on snails. I'm guessing the snail died and it's delicious. She's been after this one tonight, Not the best quality since I'm spying on her from across the room.
  11. Posting a day late, but I currently have humpback limia fry of various sizes in my 40 breeder.
  12. That's a really cute idea. I've laid flattened out moss balls on top of rocks to make a little carpet, but never thought to use a chia pet!
  13. I think I'll just do some tank maintainance between turkey and fixin's for lunch and a Christmas movie marathon with a friend online. Wonder if @Cory will stream like he sometimes does on holidays.
  14. I've kept trilineatus and pandas and they all did this. But the cool part was they would also do breeding behavior and then deposit their eggs on the glass, giving me a nice view of the whole process.
  15. It was the plants for me; the concept that you're building a little enclosed ecosystem really sparked my passion for the hobby.
  16. If it's a new tank (a few months old) it's probably diatom algae, and will burn itself out once all the silicates in the system are depleted. That being said, snails love the stuff, and will help eliminate any new blooms of algae. Cute betta!
  17. Someone hasn't been on top of scraping the glass. Couldn't be me. I have wood in three tanks, though I have a piece of spiderwood I'm planning on adding to a 5 gallon.
