I liked the idea of having a space to just babble about my tanks. I do have an Instagram, but I always felt like I need to post glamour shots to that, and not more mundane things. So here it is, a place to talk about how duck weed is taking over my house (seriously I find it on our doorknobs). I guess I'll start off by introducing my favorite fish, and therefore my favorite tank. Pooka is a synodontis eupterus who has an incredibly sweet temperament. She's hand tame, and often follows my hand around while I work on the tank. She's currently in a 40 breeder, and I MAY put her in the 75 eventually, but honestly I'm worried to put her in with my bichirs; Dragon (who I will introduce in another post), once took a bite out of a catfish like it was an apple. She seems to have enough room for now, and really isn't that active - her swimming style is doing calm moseys around the tank between long upside down naps. I once drew her as a Pookamon Pokemon.
So I am in the process of setting up a new 90 gallon tank. I have some fish I really want, but others im unsure if compatible? It's so hard to search one by one which fish are compatible with which. The fish I 100% want are: electric blue acara severums blood parrot Fish I am wondering if compatible: geophagus such as steindachneri, balzanii, pellegrini, pearl cichlid, altifrons, ect. I love almost all the geophagus species Any help appreciated! thanks in advance.
I have a 75 gallon that currently houses three senegal bichirs who all stay on the bottom for the most part, and a ctenopoma who likes to just hide in the plants. I've been wanting to add SOMETHING else for a long, long time, and my options are a bit limited since bichirs and ctenopoma are predatory. One of the recommended tank mates are blood parrots since they're too big to be a snack. I've been going back and forth and back and forth on getting one for over a year. I see them in pet shops all the time and I think they're adorable. I don't have a problem with the hybrid part, though their mouths kind of concern me. But I see so many positive stories from people who have kept them, and I do love me weird, charismatic water dog sort of fish. Well today I went out to get root tabs and came home with a blood parrot. I got to use my Aquarium Co-Op insulator thing! Little guy is in quarantine, chilling out with the lights off. He really is so dang cute, and he has a mouth that looks like he's doing this: 😄 So tell me about your experiences. Share photos. Show me your tank. What do you feed yours? Have you had any problems I should look out for? Have they dug up your plants? Some pics!
