  1. I run a deep substrate tank as well, for no other reason than I think it looks nice to me. I can't explain the rise in water parameters either. My water parameters stay pretty much the same all the time. However, I do weekly water changes and I'm not as heavily planted as you are, so our situations are different. Hopefully someone more scientific will know the answer.
  2. I would say get them from Select Aquatics, just because breeders like him need our support. I would even wait if they are out of stock. If you can't wait, which is totally understandable, then local or petco. I just don't think you'll be able to get as pretty a fish elsewhere.
  3. I agree, it looks like Anubias Nana to me as well.
  4. Snails are always a great add to a tank. Unless it's a breeding project, I assume. :)
  5. Great looking angels! Tank should look great again when all the plants come in.
  6. Wow looks like you guys put in a ton of work! Looks great! Should be amazing once it's fully up and running.
  7. Congratulations on finding a betta! He's a beauty. Can't wait to see him in his new home.
  8. Nice to see they are in their new home now. You must be so stoked to see them swim around in that nicely aquascaped tank. Love all the little branches they can swim through.
  9. Looks like you're all set up for some livestock. :) I also don't quarantine snails, much less give them meds. Maybe I should be doing that, but I have never done it. I am also on the hunt for a betta fish! Hard to choose, but I feel like when I see the "right" one, I'll just know it and jump all over it without hesitation.
  10. That is quite a project you are working on. It looks like you're doing a wonderful job. It's not even completed, but you can already tell it's going to be beautiful.
  11. Surface agitation usually gets rid of the biofilm that forms on the top of the water. Most filters are able to do this. Are you running a no filter tank?
  12. Looks like moss to me, but it's kind of hard to see from the pic. I have some type of moss in one of my tanks and I've never bought moss. A small piece must have been stuck to another plant I bought and just grew until it was noticeable. Just like "pest" snails I appreciate the gift. Lol.
  13. You keep some pretty unique fish. Very cool! It's neat to see how people water change. There are so many types of issues and exponentially more solutions people come up with. I don't use a python exactly how it was intended.
  14. What kind of regulator do you use with those 90g catridges? I was thinking of trying those, but wasn't sure how well they actually worked.
  15. Wow that's some serious wisteria growth! It actually does look like a plate of salad. Lol.
  16. Thank you for the article link. I honestly have never heard of anubias rot before and luckily have yet to experience it. It's good to learn about these things though.
  17. Congratulations on the fry! Hope you are able to grow them this time. Good luck!
  18. You're so lucky to have an lfs take guppies off your hands eventually. I've been separating males and females as soon as I am 100% positive of sex. Seems to have slowed them down tremendously. I would have had major housing problems if I had continued to let them go. I don't know if you're breeding for profit, but the only advice I can give is get another 10 gallon if you have the room. I'm sure you'll get more helpful advice. There seems to be a good amount of guppy people on this forum. Good luck with your colony!
  19. You definitely get a ton of use out of those 5 gallon buckets. :) What kind of plant is growing out of the middle one?
  20. That gold plakat betta is nice. If I lived around the Co-Op doubt that fish would be available now. 😛
  21. I kept Ranchu goldfish for years and never had an unpleasant odor from the tank. I have no idea what it could have been. Maybe something was off with those particular fish?
