  1. I didn't see much aggression, to be honest. Males do chase each other a lot, but they don't do any damage. I've never noticed any serious bullying either. The flow on your filter seems to be a bit high. Looks like they were getting pushed around by the current a bit.
  2. Congratulations on the care package @Alesha!!! Some really awesome products in there.
  3. Your explanation and solution to the problem sounds completely reasonable to me. Way to work the problem. Hopefully things sort themselves out without causing any harm. Any connection to Gandr's molting issue? Or do you think that was mainly the bad luck of shipping when getting ready to molt.
  4. That is very strange and a little scary to be honest. I'm not sure what I would do if my tap water all of a sudden had ammonia in it.
  5. Root tabs popping out of the substrate is one of the very few things that annoy me in fish keeping.
  6. I'm glad to hear Gandr is doing better! That is great news. Graybeard sounds like a great and fitting name for your betta. Hope the plants come in looking great. I'm sure they will. Quarantine can't end soon enough! Lol.
  7. Welcome aboard! You ended up with some great sized tanks to start off with.
  8. Welcome to the forum! Looks and sounds like you are ready to get fry production underway. :)
  9. It looks like wild form guppies that I have seen. Still a pretty guppy if you ask me.
  10. If the shrimp can come out on its own I don't really think you have an issue. Shrimp are amazing at getting into areas that you don't want them in. That tree in your tank is crazy cool!
  11. Yeah, I agree a quarter cup seems really negligible.
  12. Nice big, new home for your lovely betta!
  13. Is the sand in the Betta tank, Top Fin White Aquatic sand? On the petsmart website it says it may contain minerals that affect pH.
  14. Like you said crushed coral will raise pH, so there's no mystery there. Certain rocks do raise pH levels, so that could be a possible reason in the 30 gallon with large rocks. The betta tank is weird though. Several pebbles I would doubt could alter the parameters of a 10 gallon. Hopefully, someone can spot something in your setups or has a good explanation.
  15. Usually I do that when fish first arrive. After a while though, I know they're doing all right and I just enjoy them. Guppy tanks on the other hand look like the population have doubled overnight so I start counting to see how many are actually in there. Lol. Never can get a full count, but I really do try at first.
  16. Sorry, you definitely wouldn't want the Fish Mate then. I don't know if they sell them in the U.S. anymore, but it seemed like the Eheim auto feeder was well regarded by most people. I've never used it before so I can't say. I'm sure there will be other opinions, a lot of people seem to use auto feeders.
  17. I guess I just need to be more patient with them. Thanks for the info!
  18. Welcome to the forum! That betta looks really cool.
  19. Welcome aboard! Everyone's hobby seems to have expanded during these times... Ranchu goldfish are the cutest!
  20. I think any type of floating plant will help you since they all propagate pretty quickly. If you're worried about light getting through, fast growing stem plants may help as well. I have pearlweed and it seems to grow pretty quickly. Doesn't take much time at all to cut and replant your way to a full bush of them. Do you have any tips for getting pothos to grow like a weed? I have several cuttings, and although they are not dying and they aren't growing very much at all. I've had them about 5 months and I have maybe 1 to 2 new leaves on each one. Weirdly their root structures seem to be growing well though.
  21. I've only used the Fish Mate F14 auto feeder. I loved it, because I could control exactly how much food was being dispensed. Each little compartment is one feeding. Also, it slowly released the food as opposed to dumping it in all at once. You can load it with flakes or pellets. The negatives are that you are limited to the 14 compartments. So once a day you can feed for 14 days. Twice a day only 7 days and so forth. Also, if you have monster fish or monster tanks with tons of fish this feeder wouldn't be for you, because the compartments only hold a small amount. If you want an auto feeder for a small or nano tank I would recommend it.
  22. The timing is really unfortunate... Hopefully he struggles this one time and all future molts go swimmingly.
  23. I hope all goes well. Is the molting process for crayfish much more of a difficult process than shrimp? I know shrimp can have their issues as well, but your crayfish is so much larger it just got me wondering.
