  1. I started my first batch of brine shrimp last night. I've had the gear for a couple of months, but I finally brought my 13-year-old bucket of marine salt out of storage. I spliced on a bit of tubing to the exit for when I harvest tonight. I only did a teaspoon of brine, and it will probably make more than I need for my tanks.
  2. It will be fine, and quiet. I use a pair of Nano Sponge filters, and a pair of Nano Air Pumps in each of my 20 gallon tanks.

Until then, I am all about the Nano: USB Nano Air Pump WWW.AQUARIUMCOOP.COM This small almost silent air pump is great for nano tanks. It also is a decent choice for adding an air...
  4. @gardenman, I agree, it is a great snack if you have the right hungry critters.
  5. @Daniel, you are making me think of doing an amateur experiment of cap recipes for organic soil tanks.
  6. @be28ans, that looks like a good start. Those color levels sound good, so I would suggest trying them in Automatic or Pro Mode, so you get the timer function. Save Manual mode for photos. Cheers

  8. There are lots of good fish suggestions here! I will just add that yellow Neocaridina shrimp are really cool, and pop against the green in a planted tank.
  9. Welcome to the forum! If you are a soccer fan, congrats to the Columbus Crew for winning the MLS title last night!

  11. I think you will be ok, but if you can post a photo of the tank and filter, that will provide more information.
  12. My five gallon prop bucket is now an accidental aquarium.
  13. Would it be possible to indicate in the text list which fish are in the photos for the week? I am not local, but I enjoy seeing new fish arrive at the Co-Op.
  14. This video answered an important question. Dean should be in the Mission Impossible memes.
  15. @Ken Burke, what a great way to help jumpstart a friend's tank!
  16. Die Hard: the protagonist is sneaking around a tower, trying to avoid Alan Rickman. Therefore, it is also a Harry Potter movie.
  17. That is lovely! A big piece of wood that emerges from the water is such a great element to use all the verticality of your tank. I can't wait to see more!
