  1. I am several time zones away, so I use these threads as my weekly species identification quiz.
  2. @WhitecloudDynasty, I just want to thank you for putting so much effort into White Clouds, one of the hardiest species in the hobby!
  3. I updated the programs for my Nanos, and my 15"+ and 24"+ units. I made the color balance different for each peak, but the same power. I am now running two 15"+ units on my Askoll tank because of the shadow of the large piece of Mopani wood in the center. Nano: 15"+, 24"+:
  4. James has good fish suggestions. How about adding a bunch of Neocaridina Shrimp? The yellows really pop.
  5. I like the very specific selection of products offered. There is no 'paralysis of choice' when shopping. Everything has been tested.
  6. Try wiping them off the lid glass and into the tank, and see what happens!
  7. What fish are you keeping in there? I bet some are already eating the worms. Echoing Cory, I would not worry about them. They might be some variety of detritus worm. You could check this Wikipedia article and search from there. Naididae - Wikipedia EN.WIKIPEDIA.ORG
  8. You may need to try lowering your lighting power or time a bit. Do your lights offer any output control? In the meantime, I would use a wooden skewer or two to sweep up as much of that as you can. You can twirl it around to capture the hair algae and gently pull it away from the plants. In the long run, you would benefit from adding more plants Cheers
  9. That is a great idea. I’m rehabilitating dropped houseplant leaves as cuttings in my utility tanks, and the extra light makes them happy!
  10. That makes sense. What is the minimum tank size for you these days? Thanks again for sharing the progress!
  11. If you only have one tank, just enjoy your shrimp and keep all of them happy.
  12. I would encourage shrimp-keepers to keep an oddball tank. Let nature happen, and you might not get pure colors, but you will get very interesting patterns.
  13. I finished my testing of these filters, and removed them for storage. I think they are great filters, and I will probably use them periodically when I need extra filtration, or in bare-bottomed utility tanks. I still prefer the look of just lights, wood, and emergent growth above my tanks. You can see in the sponges, how much they collected in about two weeks, and one week. The blob is some filter floss.
  14. I was thinking about the tank size choices for the new room. It would be cool to have some of the sizes that correspond to your "Best X for Tank Y" videos and articles, so maybe a pair of tens, a pair of twenties, and then go bigger. You would have several example tanks to point to in videos.
  15. I was digging around the settings in my Apex because I want to ask @Daniel what data sampling frequency he is using, and I found this Advanced setting for the pH probe: I was thinking of enabling it, but I only have pH 7.00 calibration fluid. My 10.00 solution either spilled or evaporated. I found the Data Log setting, and I have it set to 2 minutes.
  16. I removed the hang-on-back filters, and added more plants from my utility tanks.
  17. I would use it for growing out plant cuttings, and hydrating a cat.
  18. You will definitely be able to grow plants! Here are some threads for Fluval lights: Aquasky 2.0 Plant 3.0
  19. I'm still waiting for the sand and gravel that I pulled from my Askoll 20 to dry, so I can sort the layers with the sifters. This tank has had all the experiments.
  20. Very clever @TheDukeAnumber1! What will your next Pi project be?
  21. @Daniel, what are the size and material specifications for the Python hook extension you added? That flexible tubing looks like a more pliable material.
  22. @Nick, thanks; I set the timer to 07:00 - 16:00. I put in an Aqueon 25W heater preset to 78° F, and I can add another if necessary. So far, I am just using extra gear I have. There are some good threads on heater choices. I use Fluval heaters for two of my home tanks, and a little Top Fin preset heater for my Betta, but my other tanks are unheated.
  23. I've been trying to refresh my knowledge from the biology classes I took years ago, and I was reminded that photosynthesis is an endothermic reaction, while plant respiration is exothermic. I haven't been able to find information about how much temperature would change based on these reactions.
