  1. Great idea with the open side idea. Can’t wait to see how it turns out!
  2. Call me a newbie but I’m still marveling at the DIY filters. 😅
  3. Try partly draining the tank. I’ve seen people “cordoning” parts of tanks off with old mattenfilters.
  4. Really nicely put together tank - I’m sure your mother will love it!
  5. Come to think of it, I think that @Zenzo did a fun sort of island/rock pool idea with his mudskippers.
  6. Lost appetite can be a sign of internal parasites or of bloat. @Colus done a great thread on the most commonly posted diseases.
  7. Nice idea!! I’d add a couple of nerite snails because algae might be a problem on the white background. Great scape btw.
  8. Try removing most of the decorations (hard scape etc) or leave the net in there for them to become accustomed to it. Maybe try putting the woodpile in the net (I hope you have a big one) and leave and come back in 10 mins and see how many returned to the wood pile in the meantime. Have you seen the ACO video on how to catch fish? Good luck! @Cory may have some recommendations on how to catch fish out of big tanks.
  9. I didn’t know you could buy shares in the forum? 🤣
  10. I think we have the same sort of thing over here: JBL Novofry. I might stick to infusoria and Sera Micron - seeing as I’m going on holiday for a few days soon. My fish timed their spawn especially bad 😅.
  11. One quick way to get a clear result is to ask your local water distributor. They usually keep tabs on the water params. However, you say that your tanks are at 6.5, so I’m more inclined to believe the ACO test strips. Welcoem to the forum btw!
  12. I had an interesting idea for your set up during History of Art yesterday (one wonders why …😏) I was thinking that the 3D printed bank could also function sort of like a raised bed for Anubias and Amazon swords. Like a sort of flat Hydroponic set up, where the top would be sunken in below the intake. A sponge pad at the intake would clean the water, and like that you can hit two birds with one stone by having Amazon swords and Anubias in between in the intake and the outtake, which would give it a natural look. Sorry if it’s a bit hard to understand! I’ll try & do a sketch later.
  13. Alternatively just go for the credit card algae scraper - if you’re not shy of a bit of elbow grease. 🙃
  14. Maybe try a small lattice, or something to hold some filter floss for the intake.
  15. They come from shallow marshes in North Western Australia - may have something to do with it.
  16. I’ve got Sera micron, and my mum won’t allow any worm cultures into the house… I think that I may also try infusoria.
  17. I like the idea of an elongated aquarium going round the edge of one room like a skirting board. If you ever have to redo the tank (god forbid!!) some Boesmanis would be super cool to give it that riverine effect.
  18. @wes.crockett recently did something similar to those caves, but in a shrimp tank. Nice fish carpet @dasaltemelosguy. 😂
  19. My glowlight tetras bred today! (well, sometime yesterday, but I only noticed the eggs today)
  20. Maybe the low buffer is at fault? Nerites would be perfect, tho I’ve always had problems getting them past the first week. Otocinclus might also be a good option, if the tank wasn’t so small.
