  1. Alternatively get some Amano shrimp if it’s long and stringy (hair algae).
  2. Almost my entire population perished because of a ich outbreak, but the survivors have reengineered some gold babies…they aren’t full grown, but the previous ones were. I can tell you that they don’t pass on the gold gene to their fry (at least not directly) and that the males look absolutely amazing. 🤩
  3. Move the clown killis because @Guppysnail can vouch for least killis breeding like CRAZY... apart from that I think they look cool. 😎
  4. Maybe no filter whatsoever? I kept a 2 liter jar on my bedside table with a few shrimp and Anubias in there for a couple of months and they ended up doing rather well. I didn't use a cover, so regular topping up may have helped. Alternatively, Maybe just a plain old relaible sponge filter could work.
  5. Depends on the dominant genetics, but in my experience swordtails and platys will breed pretty readily when put together... Swordtails are pretty bad fry eaters, and you may not get any fry at all.
  6. Leg and arm are doing so much better!! I spent Xmas like a vegetable, and the last months have been hectic with uni preparations, physio appointments and crud like that… How is everyone? My Endler population (and YouTube channel!) has been exploding in the last few months, and I finally started a saltwater tank!
  7. Came back to the forum after 5 months AWOL… Hi!
  8. 99.9% are dud pics 😂
  9. His parental instincts may come in to play. He’ll be more focused on keeping the other fish away than on eating the eggs. I’d use the adult platies if I were you. More robust than fry.
  10. Quite useful for the lazy fish keeper…😅
  11. If you put some dither fish in who won’t harm the eggs (pleco, Oto, etc) he may take better care of them…I haven’t had this problem before when I bred mine.
  12. I’m boooooored of sitting around watching fish all day! Time for a new tank 😈. On my way back from the hospital I stopped by a saltie LFS to see what I could put in a marine tank… Corals cool, don’t get me wrong, but plants have something more uniform and natural (and cheaper!!!) about them…we’ll see where this goes. My latest short on YouTube: I found the term ‘Lifelapse’ kinda fitting : lifetime+ Timelapse. Have a nice day!
  13. @Lowells Fish Lab did a tank seperated in the middle by a semi-transparent partition so that the fish could see each other but not spawn…I’ll link the vid…
  14. Macro gives a real rockpool vibe to it…it’s a bit like a saltwater planted tank in a way… Tigahboy did an amazing thing with that tank. 😍
  15. It really hit a note with me because I’ve seen all the effects of warming seas on corals and whatnot. Definitely makes you want to keep some yourself to see what the fuss is all about 😂
  16. Nice tank! I can see it as a really cool scape if you added some more plants with CO2. Maybe try attaching a plant to the rock. The Easy Flow kit is making me jealous 😂.
  17. You can try Reverse respiration, if you’re willing to remove your Java fern from your tank. @Guppysnail
  18. There’s annoying algae and then there’s decorative algae…the Lorax would definitely agree with the latter. 😄
  19. Nice! You can see the Bolivians sparring and I really like the forest of Aponogetons on the surface.
  20. According to google it seems that it can take them 2 years to get to 6 feet if grown in a conservatory…but apparently in aquariums they stay at 80 cm or so due to nutrients and space etc
  21. Not bad! I’ve only got the Murphy one which I’ve put on my ski helmet. 😅
