  1. You should have got first place based on fish diversity IMO. Not that I’m biased, but 1st place only had some cardinals.
  2. Mine do pretty well in 7.3 pH and pretty hard water.
  3. Huge congrats! Definitely well-earned. I wonder what first place looked like. 😅
  4. Those are looking spectacular! Try adding sera micron to a smal cup of water and adding that to the aquarium. All the small particles will sink to the bottom much faster and make a small fry- and sewellia friendly bio film that they can feed on.
  5. I’m liking the sort of sparse idea, but I’m aiming more for an eye-catcher where plants come first and fish second (for a change!). MD Fish Tanks did a really nice one that I’m shooting for.
  6. I have found it pretty useful to use American EBay and pay extra for shipping. Not cheap but I was able to get my hands on a half-decent HOB that way.
  7. Schools starting to get the better of me. Hey ho… only 5 more weeks till Xmas! 🎅 Black phantom tetras produced around 3 viable wrigglers, but a lot of fungused eggs. My hypothesis is that the eggs were in the females for so long that they were just sort of infertile anyway. KeepingFishSimple had that problem with his neons so it’s not impossible. Anyway I’m just gonna keep on trying till I get this right! 😵‍💫 Currently musing about not breeding as much fish as I can and just enjoying my tanks. MD Fish tanks on YouTube is definitely to blame 😂! The downstairs 63 gal definitely needs rescaping and my dad says that he’ll contribute if I can make it look nice… what sort of scape would any of you do with a spare 63 gal long? It’s not very wide - only about 12-15 inches (my brains too fuzzy to do conversions 🧠) so that kinda limits options. @Lizzie Block you only seem to do nano scapes, but what would you do with a larger sized tank? Also I took the lid off my Endler tank seeing as it was looking pretty tank and my Indian swamp weed is showing some really cool emersed growth I want to encourage. My sisters want me to get into saltwater. I said it was too expensive and I didn’t know anything. Out of curiosity I had a look for some cheap options (non-existent!) and am sort of on the edge of wether it’s worth a shot or not. Either way here’s my weekend photo dump. Take care!
  8. Definite lack of males with the black phantom tetras. 1M 2 F made for a LOT of eggs, but also for a lot of fuzzy ones. Good news is that there are still some ok looking ones! I’ll use a pipette to get the duff ones out and WC the egg tank. Have a nice day!
  9. I expect you could use a cork beer mat if you were desperate, but I expect you could find some on Amazon?
  10. Hi all, The fame of Aquarium Co-Op has started spreading more and more across Europe recently, and I think that there's been a corresponding surge of new European members on this forum. Therefore I thought it would be nice to start a thread for us European (and any other continents for that matter) to converse and exchange about tips and tricks to supplement the products and creatures that are available to our American counterparts. Anyones input is welcome. Have a nice day! 😁
  11. Vibra bites are supposed to be good if you can get them. They look just like bloodworms and act like them when they fall. The fact that I can’t get any where I live is stoppping me from getting any.
  12. Switzerland isn’t part of the EU, but we do have the same species & med regulations. However, I can get some in when my relatives come to visit from the UK. Otherwise my go-to med is garlic, or salt depending on the need. Do you want bladder or ramshorn snails? I can send them for free if you cover shipping. Sounds like Swedens even worse off than my LFS. 🫠 Thanks for the mention @Lennie!
  13. Nothings better than surprise fry! (Couple of days old) Dads wild-type BNP, mums gold and offspring are 60% ish gold
  14. Kuhli loaches XXL 😂 I’ve been seeing so many rare tetras on Dans fish lately. An interesting and expensive and rare African tetra who I’d be really interested in spawning: Alestopetersius brichardi
  15. Long week of presentations soon to be over! Baby BNPs have joined the zebra juvies in my 15 gal tank. Plants are loving it, snails less so because I snagged 2 more assassins off a friend. 😈 Set up my Black phantoms to spawn last night. I’m so used to failure I’ve almost stopped being pleased that they’ve spawned, but hey… New strategy means new opportunities. The waters closer to 7 because I read that they prefer slightly less acidic water. Long day, am typing this with my left hand 😵‍💫
