I have been in the aquarium hobby for a bit over a year and a half. At the moment I have a 20 gallon high that is stocked with: A betta that cannot decide whether to be shy or aggressive. More Albino Cories then i should have in the tank after 2 successful breeding projects 5 Albino Cory fry that are 5 days old a goofball of a Panda Garra dubbed Garra Guy 2 mystery snails (Batmobile and Smaug)(both male) 1 Tiger nerite snail (Algaecide) a bunch of pretty cool looking platies a lifetime's supply of mini ramshorn snails a whole lot of bladder snails I'm pretty sure I still have some Malaysian Trumpet Snails alive as well. some mystery fry i found in a bag on the side of the road a few days ago that i have no clue what species they are. Ive probably forgotten some inhabitants that i'll need to add in later. It may seem overstocked, but ive had no issues. That being said, at some point most of the cories will be heading to the LFS. The tank is planted with: a dwarf aquarium lily lots and lots of anubias from 2 plants i got just when i got into the hobby a small crypt tropica some java moss some other anubias species some java fern and windelov occasional guppy grass sprigs water lettuce Here is a picture: I enjoy this hobby from a hobby side, but also view it from a scientific side. I like to breed fish, but im having trouble with platy breeding, and i dont have very many species i can breed. I have a 2.5 tank that has been setup for a long while as well that has killed some neo shrimp but i should be getting some more in a week or two. It has: bladder, ramshorn, and malaysian trumpet snails guppy grass, guppy grass, guppy grass, guppy grass, guppy grass java fern windelov anubias sp. (a small kind and a big kind) and some other assorted stems that really havent taken off here is a picture as well: This will not be the most updated journal as it will fall into categories like dosing ferts where Ill do it if I remember, but thats not usually too often.

This is called my NEW journal as i started one last year and forgot about it, so this is my new journal. I have a 20high tank, and thats almost all i have. Its planted, with platies, cories, and a betta. I also have a 5gallon with a panda garra in QT, and a 2 i have a female isolated in till she gives birth. I will post more here in the future on my various projects and updates. So my current update is 200+ corydora eggs. My cories laid for 6 hours straight on sunday, and the picture here is the result. I like experimenting with things too.

I ordered some new fish for my 17 gallon jungle...ahem, aquarium. It currently has some chili rasboras that are being moved to a smaller tank with less flow (17gal has an Eheim 2213 that produces more flow than they care for) and 4 licorice gouramis who mostly hang out in the "underbrush" plant growth. The tank has two big branches of manzanita wood covered with moss and other plants, as well as a couple of dragon stones (big one on the left...and two very small ones). I got 12 dwarf spotted danios because they like higher flow, and a panda garra. These were at the suggestion of customer service at The Wet Spot (I don't live anywhere near the Co-op, sadly), and I have gotten all my fish from them so far. They are really great. The fish just arrived today; just put them in the tank a couple of hours ago. The problem is this: this panda garra is HUGE. I had no idea how big he was. He's over 3 inches...and he just looks really uncomfortable. Like he doesn't have enough space. I feel SUPER bad for him. I have named him Mr. Jumbotron, and I would like to keep him if possible. To be clear, my concerns here surround his physical size and comfort/mobility in the tank...I am confident my water change schedule + plant mass can keep up with regular waste generated. Here are my two options: 1. Take out some of the hardscape (branches?) so he has more swimming space Potential issues: about half my plant mass is on the hardscape, so I'm concerned about creating a stability problem by removing them; also my licorice gouramis use them for cover (I could move them to the smaller 7.5-gal with the chili rasboras...not sure whether they might be more territorial in that smaller space). 2. Rush to set up my 45-gallon tank. It has hardscape in it already, but no substrate or water. I was planning on setting it up later in the year because I still need a few more things (a light, CO2 system). Potential issues: it would take a month to cycle the new tank AND get enough algae going that Mr. Jumbotron can be happy in there. 3. Contact my LFS and see if they could take Mr. Jumbotron as a donation or a trade. Not really an issue, but... I really love Mr. Jumbotron already and I don't want to donate him. But I do want the best for him...so I have to consider this option too. Questions for the group: 1. What would you guys do? 2. How long can Mr. Jumbotron stay in this tank? (i.e. how long do I have to come up with and prepare the solution...I want the best for him and he just seems uncomfortable where he is) 3. Any thoughts/suggestions on my possible solutions and the potential issues I have raised? I attached some pictures of Mr. Jumbotron in the jungle/aquarium. Sorry it's dim...the lights are very low to help the fish chill out. He's in the top-left of the first picture, lower-right of the second picture. Thank you in advance for your advice in fixing this terrible mistake.

Hi so about 8 years ago I I was walking through a local (ish) fish and reptile shop and saw these tiny little silver sucker fish in tank sat on top of each other and thought they were so cute, so like an idiot I bought both of them without knowing how to care for them. I took them home and one died after about a year (killed by the other one I believe) but they only seemed to hate each other once my bristlenose plec had died. Almost as if they were know competing to replace the plec as “top dog”. Ever since then this little guy (named Larry) has been through ALOT. But I can never really find much info on him other then a name, and NOT A SINGLE PERSON seems to recognise the name “panda garra”. so I guess I don’t really have any questions about his care, but just wanting to know more about this little guy and if people can explain why he’s so tough and some of his behaviour. As well as why he’s so rare and unheard off here in the UK. Maybe they’re more popular somewhere else?!? A quick list of stuff he has survived: Gone a long time without water changes, survived over 10 hours below 10C TWICE, as well as aggressive fish, white spot outbreaks and he also dragged himself out the water once, he was sucking his way up the glass while I was doing a water change, and when he hit the surface he just kept going until his whole body was out the water. Also I would HIGHLY recommend this fish to a beginner, they’re durable, not fussy eaters, pretty peaceful with Khuli loaches and corydoras, he occasionally chases some of the other fish but usually only fish larger then himself (he has a love hate relationship with my gourami)
