  1. Try, cucumbers, zucchini or any algae wafer.
  2. So, I wonder what the opening of the new arrivals will look like? Can you hold the bag of fish, the utility knife and the walker? Lol.
  3. Definitely worth the extra money. Aquarium Co-op is#1. I don’t think or feel there is any EXTRA money. My local pet shops charge between 7.00-9.00 for nice plants. I just checked online and the box stores charge about 8.99-9.99 for potted plants and about 12.99 for the tissue cultures.
  4. If you can afford more than one. And can manage more water changes. I like to start fry out in smaller containers. As they grow move to larger container. Also this will help with sorting (culling) by size as the fry grow. Good Luck
  5. Congratulations. Keep us updated Thanks and Good Luck
  6. Tired, overwhelmed, overworked? Going stir crazy? just a couple ideas.
  7. My opinion - I think it is better to have a product that I might need (as long as it has a long shelf life), rather needing to order it once I recognize a problem. With that being said, everyone’s situation is different and you need to consider the cost/value of having a product on hand you might not ever need. But something tells me you will use. Good Luck
  8. I did not read all responses, so if I am repeating someone.. sorry. I would not try to hard to get algae. Once it gets a foothold it might over take everything and the cleaning crew might not be able to keep up. And besides, what kind of algae will you end up with... I would just let the tank slowly cycle/season itself while supplementing the clean up crews diet. I think the animals are or will be better off with a variety in their diet. Good Luck and Share updates
  9. Depends on the plant? I place a root tab in the rock wool and plant them. As for plants that send out runners this seems to work fine. If the bottom of the tank isn’t covered I just look up from time to time. When I can see the root system (and I use mostly UGFs) I know the plant has a great network of roots. This also helps in the placement of future root tabs as I can see the roots. Anyways back to baskets. Once the plant is well established and sent out several runners if I feel there is any benefit to removes I do it then. Good Luck
  10. There appears to be new growth? Correct? When you say splitting doses between two days, is that three and then three pumps of just easy green? Maybe add root tabs to some of the substrate feeders (but not a lot) and maybe instead of three pumps maybe add 4 and then 4 along with some EZ Iron?
  11. Frontosa.... if you are anything like me it will not matter. They are all great. Have fun and send photo. Thanks and Good Luck
  12. Does this tank have and substrate, decorations, drift wood or rocks? The bacteria you need is on all of those things. The pore size should not be an issue. Pore size will determine how small or large the particles the sponge will collect. But, remember..... even a sponge with larger pores as it clogs (fills with waste) it will collect smaller things. This is why a sponge filter can go months without needing service and then it seems within days it is plugged..... Good Luck
  13. Not so sure about the Cory cats? Maybe pygmaeus or Pygmy cory. I am thinking larger Corydoras (would purchase 6-8) might be to active in a ten gallon and drive the shrimp to some stress? Whatever you decide i would target feed bottom dwelling animals. Sometimes as hobbyist people think the clean up crew gets plenty to eat. This only happens if we are over feeding. Easier to target feed and control water parameters and algae. Good Luck
  14. Duck weed. And why does everyone hate it so much? I have had it, either on purpose or by accident. You can control or manage it. Free fish food, some fish love it. Oh well Good Luck
  15. Hmmm , so I have had 40 ish tanks at one time spawning a lot of different fish. Currently I have only 6 up. I have Angelfish, roseline barbs, neons, rummy nose, clown loaches, yo-yo loaches, African cichlids, some different gourami, guppies, and Discus. You get the point. Unless I want the discus eggs to hatch I don’t adjust/test my tap water. In fact my test kit is old and I guess it should be replaced. Is everyone happy and eating and for the most part making more (eggs or fry)? Then I don’t mess with it. Now if you have that one odd ball or wild caught, then by all means you might need to adjust the water.
  16. Why? What do you want to keep? Are they wild caught? I would leave well enough along. Always Remember- K.I.S.S. Keep It Simple Stupid.....
  17. You know I never checked my water when I was keeping and breeding white clouds. I think that is why a lot of fish die. People try to adjust the water and it can be hard. So many of the fish we keep can and will adapt if it is just stable. Side note... fry can be amazing. Instead of brownish and redish. They have a blue tint with the red.....
  18. I agree as well. spend your money on something else
  19. Hmmm, I think they are to young just yet. I know a lot of pet shops will only order males of a lot of different fish because they believe they are more colorful. The true Honey Gourami the male will develop a blue tint on the lower quarter of his body. Also the dorsal fin on the male will be longer and come to a point in older fish. Good Luck
  20. Do you use API or Prime or Fritz? I know people have reported false readings with Prime and Fritz Complete Water Conditioner. I think API might do the same.
  21. I agree, Document and video everything. If nothing else you could have a great product review on how great the fish are even after all they had to deal with..... good Luck
  22. My go to clean up crew is nerite snails, otocinclus, flying Fox, Amano shrimp and bristle nose plecos. And of course plants. I guess, I am not sure if any of these will work. I mean the fish might inadvertently be harassing the snails and shrimp as the mouth the substrate. Might eat the plants. Temperature and water parameters. Need more information. Depends on the animals I guess Just maybe they all get along Good Luck
  23. What type/brand is the filter? maybe add a sponge to the intake. Let that run for a month or so. Remember the gravel and all decorations have bacteria on them. unless you are having a problem. Make changes slowly. Less stress on you and the animals. my thoughts, two weeks setup? This tank isn’t cycled yet. Slow down Good Luck
