  1. Sky’s the limit practically with a 40 breeder! Great pickup.
  2. Any interest is better than no interest to me. Lol. Thanks for the words of encouragement.
  3. I, myself, wouldn’t hesitate putting new fish in the tank in that situation. I would even go so far as to add some of the old water as well.
  4. @Anita That’s a good point about terra cotta that I never thought about before. I have a terra cotta decoration, but I never clean it. I like the “dirty” look more than a super new look. However, if I ever thought about cleaning it, I probably would have used bleach. Glad I saw this post.
  5. That’s so cute that he circles around everything. What an active boy.
  6. Looks good! Good luck with the monte carlo carpet. Should look amazing when you get it going.
  7. That’s a really nice looking jungle you’ve got going! I wish I had some advice for you, but I haven’t had any emergent growth yet. One day hopefully. Looks really amazing though. I hope you’re able to keep it going like that.
  8. I’m not a member, so I’ll have to wait and see what the new products are. I’m glad members get little perks like this though. They definitely deserve it!
  9. I’ve never buried my lilies. I just leave them on top of the substrate and let the roots anchor themselves in.
  10. That’s a good question. I used to store brine shrimp eggs that I knew I wouldn’t get to for a while in the freezer actually. I never had a problem storing them like that. I started doing that after hearing others do it that way. Eggs I would use more quickly I kept in the fridge.
  11. Very, very cool! I’ve never seen or heard of these live bearers before. I think they’re a good looking fish.
  12. I’m happy for you that you got your birthday tank! A 20 gallon long has got great dimensions. It’s hard to take things slow sometimes isn’t it?! I honestly think if you really hate the fluorite you should change it out. I think capping it would be ok, but you should be absolutely happy from the start. Better to put in the extra work now, than really disliking things down the line.
  13. I use a siphon cap I got off of amazon. It isn’t fry safe, but fish the size of guppies are safe.
  14. I think ghost shrimp are also found in brackish waters, so I would think a salt treatment should be ok for them.
  15. Great shots of your cardinals. Really pretty fish. Got to love when shrimp are keeping things tidy.
  16. I’ve kept red root floaters with a lid and they did well for me. Mind you it wasn’t completely sealed off. There was a 1 inch gap between the front of the tank to the lid. Maybe that slight opening helped. To be honest, I didn’t know lids and floaters don’t always mix.
  17. @Kalita I see the start of a master killifish breeder. 🙂
  18. @Kalita Unfortunately, pretty much all of the sexy killifish are annuals. I’ve never even seen a killifish in person, except the golden wonder ones. I drool over the killifish pics I’ve seen though. Hopefully, you can figure out a good system that fits you for breeding them so you always have a small colony of them. Good luck with them!
  19. @Streetwise That’s brilliant! I’ll definitely stay on the hunt for something.
  20. @Streetwise It’s a few different kinds of bucephalandra mixed in the middle there. It’s all on top of a rock hardscape that is all covered up now. I definitely need to figure out how to get some driftwood in there. @Jungle Fan Thank you! It’s a few different types of bucephalandra originally superglued onto some rocks. It’s been spreading out on its own very slowly. It’s all kind of mixed in together now. I definitely agree with you guys that it’s missing a little something. Driftwood is a good idea and I’m also thinking about sprinkling a good amount of alder cones in open areas. Hopefully, getting the background plants taller will help as well. I appreciate the advice.
  21. Since I can’t update the tub for a while until there is some substantial plant growth or I add another fish, I figured I’d post some pics of my 7 gallon cube. It’s been running for 2 1/2 years now. It’s gone through a couple different renditions, but I think I’m going to keep it as it is for a long while hopefully. I kind of like it, but I’m working on getting the background plants taller and bushier. I used to breed my guppies in here, but they moved out to separate tanks, because they were breeding out of control about 6 months ago. It only houses around 10 amanos and some snails right now. I keep going back and forth on what to stock it with. I need to sit down and make a decision.
