  1. That looks fantastic! Love the backgrounds in the tanks. Really blends into the walls from afar. It looks like a ton of work got done just from that wall shot.
  2. Congratulations on getting all that great stuff in the care package @Betsy!!! You totally deserve it. Looks like a couple of things can be used for your new birthday gift tank too. I’m sure now you’ll be looking for a new plant that will utilize those root tabs.
  3. That’s terrible to hear. I thought he had turned the corner and was going to get better. I commend you for trying everything in your power to get Hugo well again.
  4. I was going to say “oysters,” but your answer is best.
  5. I think you need to grow them out more to be 100% sure, in my opinion. Not all orandas get a massive wen, but they should get some growth nevertheless. Ryukins have that large, high arch to them starting at the back of their head, and yours aren’t showing that yet. My guess is that they are probably Orandas, but need to be grown out more. Lots of bloodworms may help wen development as well.
  6. Very cool! You don’t see brackish water community tanks very often, or even brackish in general. I don’t have any experience with brackish water, but I’ve always read Bacopa Caroliniana can grow in it.
  7. Congratulations @Maggie!!! Very well deserved. Way to go the extra mile and record the unboxing for us. I agree you can’t have enough extra air stones and those silent air pumps laying around.
  8. @JamesB Congratulations on getting a care package! That box is loaded with goodies. Cory, Lizzie and the Co-Op go BIG!
  9. Road trips are always fun. Road trip for fish? Even better. You picked up some great looking fish. Great names for them too!
  10. Good luck with the pair. Never kept them, so I don’t know how to sex them. Definitely on my future fish list though. Beautiful tiny fish.
  11. Wish I could go to one of these big events. Have fun to anyone who goes! Take lots of pics and vids. It would be cool to meet some of the great people we have on these forums too.
  12. Welcome to the forum! Hope you enjoy it here.
  13. @Maggie Yes I saw that! I’m so interested in them. They are like veggie piranhas. When he pulled out that hornwort and it was all chewed up by scuds my jaw dropped. They must demolish algae. I keep really small fish at the moment, so I don’t want adult scuds to wipe out a planted tank. Lol. I’m dreaming of keeping slightly larger fish now, because of that vid. I’ve been watching other vids on scuds and adults look 1/2” maybe?
  14. @Betsy That’s true about the temperatures, I get ahead of myself on things like that as well sometimes. I’m sure you’ll find the perfect schooler you can really enjoy. Don’t worry about the reactions. I always seem to be out of them. Lol.
  15. Awesome! Hope they keep breeding and populating for you.
  16. Very nice! Looks like you always have live food on hand. Do bettas eat adult scuds as well? Never tried them, but the scuds look quite large.
  17. That is very cool! I definitely want to get into live food culturing. Cory blew my mind when he showed his outdoor brine shrimp pond on a vid.
  18. @Betsy I’d definitely wait until the aquatics expo, before you make any hard decisions, unless it’s pretty far off. So cool that there is one happening near you. I’ve never been to one, but from what I’ve heard, you can buy a lot of things for great prices. You might even get inspired by something or even buy your livestock there. I remember seeing a youtube vid and they had hundreds of bettas for sale at one of the bigger expos.
  19. Welcome to the forum! Big planted tanks are awesome.
  20. That’s very true, I am pretty understocked. I just have some male guppies in there for now. I haven’t really decided what kind of fish I want to keep in there yet. I’m leaning towards a Bluespotted Sunfish, or maybe try for a pygmy sunfish colony.
  21. I’m open to suggestions. It’s my first time keeping them. I know they don’t ship well and the roots actually fell off during a light rinse. I was encouraged at what I thought was new root growth, but they’re really falling apart now.
  22. @Betsy Already went plant shopping? I AM shocked! Lol. Next you’re going to tell me you already have a few possible scapes running through your head. Thumbs up for grabbing some buce! 👍👍
