  1. That sounds rough... Hopefully posting your current situation allowed you to release some of the stress you might be feeling.
  2. I always love hearing about surprise fry like this. It’s kind of a wonder how they survived usually too. I would think the safest place for them would be with the swordtail fry unless they are big enough to make a meal out of the cory fry.
  3. If you’re only going to add on in certain areas, then most people would just add the same eco-complete for uniformity sake. Some people say eco-complete “harms” bottom dwellers, because it’s “sharp.” The same amount of people also say that’s a myth. Cory filmed some substrate where some corydoras are native to and it looked a whole lot sharper and rougher than eco-complete. So I’m of the opinion that they’re just fine on it. Personally I would add some aqua soil, because I’m ok with the look of “mismatched” substrate. Plus, if I add in enough plants, you barely notice what the substrate is anyway.
  4. It’s completely normal for driftwood to get a little fungus on it at first. It goes away on its own after a while and it normally doesn’t come back again. Some people clean it off, but I just leave it.
  5. Thank you! Hopefully, it will look better when I add more plants and they start growing in a bit. I also want to add some more rocks when I can get my hands on some. I definitely needed to put in some work on this one, so I could actually start enjoying it again. I’m sure you can do the same!
  6. That should work if it’s with water from your tank. I pulled a rock from my tank and left it to dry outside. I forgot about it and a couple of days later it was covered in green. It was actually quite pretty.
  7. Welcome to the forum! Sell one tank... pick up 8 others. Awesome! Sounds about right in this community.
  8. Welcome aboard! Sounds like the humans are overworked. Lol. 75 gallons is a really nice sized tank. Hope the pleco’s quarantine goes smoothly.
  9. Green Terror, I believe. Don’t know much, except that they are beautiful.
  10. Welcome to the forum! Aquatic plants are pretty fun, aren’t they? Very cool reason for why you kept Malawi cichlids. Definitely throw up some pics when your tank is ready. A 33 gallon sounds like an unusual tank size. Very cool.
  11. Welcome to the forum! Sounds like you’ve got a great collection of tanks. A 120 with Discus, Gourami, and Angel fish would be pretty epic. Hope you are able to do that soon!
  12. Darn, that stinks. It may take a few failed attempts like that though, from what I have read and heard. I’m sure they’ll spawn again soon.
  13. It took a few days, but I got the substrate in with no apparent casualties. I’m sure some snails got buried, but there are still a ton of them in there. I was worried most about the ghost shrimp since I couldn’t catch and move them all. I learned I needed a deeper net. A lot of them were able to jump out when the net came out of the water. The Bacopa Caroliniana and Azolla Caroliniana were already in the tub. The Lobelia Cardinalis and water lettuce are new. The water lettuce came in looking ragged, but I was expecting that. I wasn’t expecting their roots to fall off when I rinsed them in water. I think I saw a few sprouts of new roots, so I’m thinking positive. I obviously need a lot more plants. I have an order coming in early next week, hopefully. I’m excited to try a new plant, Eleocharis Parvula. If you’ve kept it before feel free to drop some knowledge on me.
  14. CPD’s and Pygmy Cories sound pretty awesome! I’m no expert on water flow and turnover rate and all that but 72gph for a 12 gallon tank doesn’t sound too bad. You could always aim the output towards the side wall to take the brunt of the flow. If the pump has adjustable speed, the lowest setting would be great as well.
  15. There are so many different little creatures that end up in our aquariums, that I’ve honestly stopped trying to ID anything. Seem like 99% of them aren’t harmful and can be taken care of, at least a large portion of them, by fish. I just think of them as part of our small ecosystem and “nature’s” food for our fish. I’m sure once you get your cardinals in they will handle most of them happily for you.
  16. Dang, they have a Death Star for aquariums?! So awesome!
  17. Very nice! Congratulations on them spawning. Good luck whichever way you decide to do with the eggs.
  18. Looks like you’ll be playing with tanks and fish real soon! Can’t wait to see the rack all together.
  19. Welcome back to the hobby and to the forum! Glad to see you switched to the the good guy side of aquariums. 😛 You definitely have a lot of tanks to play around with guppies. Very awesome!
  20. I believe the brand is Aquarium Masters. They’re impossible to find online though. Maybe your lfs can get it in. Why is your well water bad? A lot of people run their aquariums with well water.
