  1. I managed to get a couple of orange shrimp to give shrimp another shot (my last ones were eaten by Apistos). Came in with some plants which I’m kinda stoked about 😊. @Minanora I also think I might have some pink Val????
  2. I picked up a load of plants from a nice old guy in my town, and he unwittingly gave me about 5 shrimp with one pipsqueak:
  3. That’s actually a pretty good idea; I’ll look into it. So far I’ve tried the Mediterranean technique of keeping the shutters and curtains and windows closed and opening them in the evening to let some cool air in. It seems to work, but I have had times where the aquarium temps were in the 82-85 bracket. Fans blowing cool air onto air pumps to then be pumped into tanks don’t work because the pump itself is quite hot. On a brighter note I turned 16 on Swiss national day! 🎂🎉
  4. That face has seen too many aquarium stuff. -“What is this scary contraption and what is it doing here?!?”
  5. A bichir? If you’re into oddballs…if not try putting them in with the large fish in your 75.
  6. I can’t see holding eggs as being unhealthy for her, seeing as many fish tend to hold eggs like this tetra: It just means that she’s up for breeding if you want to give it a shot…😏
  7. I’ve moved everything out of direct sunlight, and it seems to be doing ok. The only guys who seemed to enjoy it were my bettas, who went on full breeding mode. 😁 Maybe they need a little friend…any ideas what color would go best with a blue plakat and/or a red veil tail? During the move I’ve also managed to sort out the electrics (before that I had an extension lead running across the room) and de-duckweed my tanks. 😆Finally! The fish have been temporarily relocated to the grey bins in the first pic, but that hasn’t stopped me from getting them some more tank mates. Black skirt tetras and Bronze corydoras. Both new to me. Any thoughts/suggestions? Have a nice day!
  8. That idea could work, but you’d spend more on meds and it won’t look great for some time. I’m also 15 (16 on Aug 1st!)and get your point, so I’d advise a tub with an airstone and a lid. I personally use these:
  9. Still works fine tho…😆 But I see what you mean.
  10. I’m considering remodeling my fish/bedroom, cuz it’s getting too hot! Temps were in the 90s yesterday, and 2 out of 3 tanks are in direct sunlight…but moving 120 kilos is never gonna be fun. 🫠 Chalkboard spray paint is quite fun:
  11. The tanks looking amazing! Those rainbow fish really set off the green plants.
  12. Extatosoma Tiariatum, also known as the prickly stick insect.
  13. Weirdly good running music, but not exactly dwarfish. 🙃
  14. Sounds like moving the new Murphy tank to me…😉
  15. Those are super pretty! I have a friend who also has a couple of mantises, but I keep stick insects, Not stick mantises! 😅 Although arguable this shouldn’t be in their terrarium: Fun fact: in German ‘Praying Mantis’ translates to ‘Gottesanbeterin’ which in turn can be translated back as a female person worshipping god, or as a nun. I’m not sure the nuns in The Sound of Music ate flies tho…😆
  16. We tend to use house sitters for longer holidays. So far we’ve had one nutter, who tried to use our address to set up a bank account, and an ecologist who killed half of my dads veg garden. 🫠 @Beardedbillygoat1975
  17. Mopani the stick insect at your service! She’s about twice that now, and I’m almost scared to pick her up.
