  1. Hail, hail...the gang's all here! And this little guy...he's got the most unusual coloring.
  2. I'm with Sloane, my occasionally-triggered vertigo did not like it either! 😳😨 I was surprised, though, how I could see a very clear reflection of your room INside the tank. I wonder if that bothers our fish at all, to see all the reflections on the inside of the glass. I never really thought about that before. 🤨
  3. Welcome @The nano tank man! We're happy to have you here on the forum. No problem about not having pictures. You can practice your "descriptive writing" skills for us and we can picture it on our heads. The better your use of verbal descriptors, the better we can imagine exactly what your tanks look like! 🙂 (My husband and I have been involved in education for 30+ years...I can't help but encourage you to make this a learning experience. Hopefully that doesn't suck the joy out of it for you! 😂)
  4. Very nice set ups!!! Welcome to the forum. 🙂
  5. Oh yeah! Those are amazing!!! You must have the patience of Job to not have them filled with fish and shrimp by now. I would be just dyyyyying to get something in there! Kuddos and thanks for sharing!
  6. Oh my word! He is magnificent! Really great video. And those baby guppies just have no fear, do they??? So funny!
  7. Just gorgeous! I love the moss growing on the wood.
  8. I have the same thing developing in a tank that was recently rescaped as well. I just assumed it was bio-film, & have let it be. I'm sure some of it gets sucked up in the gravel vacc, but we've only done that once. So it's been growing for a few weeks any way. I think I'll leave it. Unless someone more knowledge tells me different. 😁 That's what I love about the forum!
  9. I have a couple ruffle sword leaves doing the same thing. The only thing I can figure is that they are the oldest leaves & as the newer leaves grow in the middle of the plant, it pushes them out away from the center of the plant. Then they start to droop the farther from the middle they get. I hope that makes sense. LoL. It's the only thing I can think of to cause the droopiness.
  10. You might want to try some neocaridina shrimp. Mine live in the java moss & do a fair job of keeping it clean.
  11. Welcome to the forum! We are happy to have you here. It's always very interesting to see how fish keepers in other countries manage their hobby, what fish & supplies are available, how the water quality is, etc. Just jump right into posting when you feel comfortable!
  12. Welcome! We are so happy to have you here. Jump right in when you feel comfortable.
  13. Just gorgeous fish! I really admire your tank decisions...they are unusual, but work so incredibly well. Your tanks make me think of fairy tails, complete with forests, beautiful beasts and friendly dragons.
  14. Yes, the fry will be able to handle the quarantine med trio. Cory says he's used the meds on everything: fry, snails, shrimp, fish, etc. If they are already healthy, they will be fine. If they have parasites, fungal infections, etc, it will help get rid of that. The only problem would be if you received a fish that was already so sick that it couldn't recover. But that is rare. I hope this helps! Best of luck with your new baby guppies. They are amazing, fun little fish to raise! Alesha
  15. Right in the middle, @Ruud, a little south of Disney World.
  16. Thanks, @Lynze ! I had to look them up. They are SO pretty! And not to be an enabler, but... 17. Anybody else swapping fish water, sponge filters, plants & substrate to new-ish, empty tanks today? Those Black Friday re-stocked favorites were just too good to pass up! Fish we've been looking for, for several weeks, were finally available. Sparkling gouramis, cherry barbs & honey gouramis headed to Florida from Aqua Huna!
  18. @subramn , I disagree with Jack. You should apply the med trio with guppy fry, just as you would with adult guppy. Check out this video from Cory. It should help
  19. Just gorgeous, @Ruud! I know you are happy to see the numbers increasing...it's just makes it so much more interesting! Fingers crossed that everybody behaves themselves with each other. 😉
  20. As I sat with coffee cup in hand this morning, my nose mere inches from the glass of my 55- gallon tank, I was reminded of Cory's advice to observe. So...here's your challenge for this weekend: plan a time to just sit & observe your tanks. Not looking for plants to trim, or algae to clear, or water to change. But just watch. And breathe. And let the beauty of nature soothe your soul. Find joy in the life that is teeming in the ecosystem of your tank. You may come away with a to-do list, sure. But identifying a new direction is a good thing. Setting a new goal can be liberating, as you leave others' expectations behind & decide what you want for your tank. Or you may realize just how much you love your tank, how pleased you are with your set up, how well you've done implementing your plan. That's so satisfying, too! And you might find surprises, as I did this morning, when I lost count of just how many mama guppies were about to give birth, or that tuft of staghorn algae that I hadn't noticed before. Whatever you observe in your tank, allow it to motivate you in some way. Let it move you forward in this hobby. Let it inspire you. And by all means, share your thoughts with us. You may provide just the motivation that someone else is needing today.
  21. Wow! What a way to get started in fish keeping!!! I'm sure your daughter was beside herself every time a new box/fish arrived. Have fun with your new babies and welcome to the forum!
  22. Awesome story! Wishing you great success as you begin again. Sometimes the plants really surprise me. A strong-looking one might melt away, but a wimpy-looking one may perk up and just grow and grow. I love just watching what they will do. 🙂
