  1. Can't see anything from the picture but try googling... cyclops crustacean, daphnia, detritus worms, planaria, see if what you have looks anything like those. There are many different types and kinds of tiny critters that can live in an aquarium that are beneficial or simply benign. GL identifying it.
  2. @ 'Cory Thanks for the tip, my dislike for my razer grows daily, I can hear the springs rattle after every key press. And I'm a numpad guy, I want the extra room but most often I find myself wishing I had three hands. @MattyIce I can never go without hyper scroll either lol. I'm using the microsoft arc which has electronic hyper scroll but I want something fuller with a couple programmable buttons. I want razer pro click ergonomics, logitech MX hyper scroll, but I also would like tilt click with the scroll wheel. I think the new logitech MX Anywhere 3 is what I'll end up getting. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  3. I haven't kept many "wet pet fish" but the ones I have I've made sure to keep some photos saved and organized. @Cory When things are settled at the new place will Hank get his final resting place there?
  4. I like that light bulb idea I haven't tried that. I personally use a Top Fin Betta 20 watt heater with thermostat, I believe petsmart carries them. I have escaped the chore of unplugging it every time by filling a container with the tap water for the next batch, giving the heater a quick rinse, then it goes right into the new tap water while I separate and harvest.
  5. 12.5 / 6.25 / 2 I have the passion for 10, I feed out baby brine every day and don't get tired of it, but only the time for 2 atm. Can't wait until life lets up and I can join the rest of you.
  6. Logitech G512 I recently switched over to mechanical keyboards and am a big fan of this one. IMO it's a good value for the price. I also have a razer blackwidow elite but prefer the G512 for the better feel and sound of the keys on the board. They are marketed for "gaming" but I use them as productivity keyboards and bought them with their linear switches.
  7. @Pekitivey I switched over to the test strips but if I ever go back to the API kit I'm going to tape my nitrate test bottle to an air pump.
  8. Wow I heard Val was sensitive to Excel but I didn't realize it was that sensitive... I have not dealt with this but IMO do water changes to get the remaining excel out, probably don't want a bunch of rotting leaves in that tank either, remove the dead leaves and hopefully the root system survived. Hopefully someone else has hands on with this.
  9. Surprisingly large fish will eat baby brine. Adult tetras, mollies, ect will. Just put in my order for the eggs.
  10. I have never seen fish get as excited for any food as much as they do for live baby brine.
  11. I leveled up today! Through the Co-op's inspiration and focus on education I leveled up so much that now my merch wears merch.
  12. I wonder if the previous owner used that stove to get the room nice n toasty or if there are issues getting enough heat to that room in the winter. Will you be installing a tankless water heater like in your old place?
  13. Yeah FB is a messy place, full of so many unproductive discussions, why I'm hardly on it. I got ripped off sort of on FB recently. I have a brine shrimp hatchery on thingiverse and got a message from a fellow thingiverse user that someone in Australia was printing and selling my design without attribution. I'm in the US so not really worth infiltrating a FB group to call it out, but an example of it's the wild west in some groups.
  14. Sounds about right, just be patient, your beneficial bacteria needs time to develop. To keep things developing at full speed you can keep your temperatures up and make sure to run an air stone so the bacteria have plenty of oxygen.
  15. In the context of what they say "any painted, coated or sealed surfaces", I think they are referring to larger coated protected surfaces. Since they recommend CLR for use with bathtubs which often have silicone seals and washing machines that it should be aquarium seal safe. I have not tested this myself though.
  16. IMO you're going to have to go with a legit steel razor scraper or a long soak with CLR. Good luck!
  17. @Lynn You can run a quick test with a light meter app on a phone. I may give you a rough idea on how much light the lid will block.
  18. Are you trying to grow plants, what's your goal with the light? Regardless minerals on the underside of the lid will diffuse/block some light, but you can solve this with periodic cleaning of the lid.
  19. Too low NO3 can cause plants to start growing slowly with pale leaves and start losing older leaves prematurely. If your concern is just as you said "proper care", let your plants tell the story. If you are after faster growth I would test an increased dose.
  20. BBS, Northin Fry Starter, and crushed nano extreme.
