  1. Plants cannot get ich, or ich cannot get plants however you want to look at it. Looks like you have brown on leaves, leaf yellowing, and damaged leaves. What are the plant species and how does your water test, what parameters?
  2. Good Memey Monday everyone!
  3. Go grab some White Clouds and you can do just that. The #1 cause of species loss is habitat destruction, to really tackle the issue their environment needs to be addressed.
  4. # of fish isn't really a good metric, Bio load is what really matters here and that is directly dependent on how much you have to feed. The more you have to feed the bigger the bio load. First off cycle the aquarium get things running... Read up, good luck we are here to help.
  5. Looks quite nice, I don't see mistakes when I see it. Well done.
  6. In your specific situation it sounds like the only effective way to add heat would be electric. But... good heat management can go a long way, I don't know how those radiators are in the room but if you can leverage the heat from those as best as you can and insulate what you can you can add as little heat as possible by keeping the heat you have. Two budget friendly options that come to mind that I have used are... https://www.menards.com/main/building-materials/insulation/radiant-barrier/reflectix-r-3-7-reflective-insulation-16-x-25/st16025/p-1444452049026-c-5778.htm?tid=-1&ipos=1 Which can be used to insulate tank sides or wall areas where you want to radiate the heat back from. https://www.menards.com/main/hardware/weather-stripping/3m-62w-x-252-long-6-window-indoor-window-film-insulator-kit/2141bw-6/p-1444421742511-c-3624.htm?tid=-1&ipos=1 I use these every year, super worth it, makes a big difference in a room especially if the windows are old and/or drafty.
  7. They molt and grow quickly after they hatch but don't need food right away in their early stages. They can be fed spirulina, some fry foods, crushed up foods, ect... The animals at your LFS could be brine shrimp just older and bigger. In the typical feeding of baby brine shrimp you don't feed them, you give them to the fish shortly after they hatch, about 18-24 hours of incubation then feeding. Something labeled Artemia eggs or brine shrimp eggs is what you're looking for but the Co-op sells quality eggs at competative price so IMO buy from them. Once you start feeding baby brine shrimp, BBS, you'll notice the difference quickly.
  8. Just throwing this out there but avoid electric heat if possible, it's an expensive way to heat a room. A 1500 watt electric heater is about 5% to 10% the heat a typical house furnace can put out. If you buy one and it only runs 50% of the time that's 540-kwh's per month. And if you have a low electric cost at $0.12 per kwh that's still about $65 a month.
  9. Sry but I'm going do dissent. A Nerm is someone who is indistinguishable from a "normal" person in society, but behind the fish room door in their homes and in their minds they are total fish nerds. Wearing the label openly feels a bit on the nose IMO. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  10. Thanks, it does work out nicely. I get them from SKS-bottle. Mine specifically are the "clear french square glass bottles". The square ones site together nicely on the shelf :)
  11. Just three foods here, and I do it Irene style, small portions are bottled off and the rest stays in the original container sealed in a bag in the fridge. I feed live baby brine, Xtreme Nano, and Northfin Fry Krill Food.
  12. If the central heat ducts are right there just adding a vent on the existing ducts in the basement is the way to go IMO.
  13. In reply to assorted pics here are some assorted compliments. Beautiful betta! Cool Cory, Rad Ram, and your scaping does look nice. Glad you are here.
  14. I very much enjoyed Monday's live stream and liked the talking points on touching nature every day and how nature finds a way. But... I definitely don't want nature finding a way in my hat. Love my Murphy flex fit hat and wear it a bunch but it's nearing cleaning time and I didn't see recommendtions on the tags. My go to on my other hats has been a bath of warm mildly soapy water and follow up with a rinse but I want to keep this hat looking extra sharp. Any official or tested recommedations out there? Thanks.
  15. The day I had to limit myself was when I knew. I limit myself to x storage space and no more, and x tank space and no more. A reasonable amount of space to fulfill my passion for the hobby AND keep myself within the realm of the Nerms.
  16. I completely agree, natural sunlight really brings out a beauty I don't see with just the lights.
