  1. I use them and my mystery and bladder snails reproduce fine. My neocaridina shrimp are ALWAYS berried and overpopulate my guppies well if guppies arein the same building they are pregnant no matter what lol
  2. Bladder snail. I would never have a planted tank without including them. I have hand picked the prettiest of them clear shell with honey caramel spire and breed them in my plant grow out tank. Everyone gets excited when they see MY plants and how perfect they are they ask to buy them....until they know the snails are my gardeners...ROFL
  3. My tap water is so hard you need a jackhammer...my guppies adore it. ACO strips turn a fluorescent purple that isn’t even close or between any colors. API is alway 13-15 drops out of the tap. I rarely test gh because all my babies are thrilled the harder the better.
  4. My cherry shrimp overpopulate! I bought a few from a local lfs they did awesome same water then got some from a very reputable online source all but a few kicked in 2 weeks due to molting issues they didn’t adjust at all. Went back to local and all did great. They are fun and easy.
  5. For each type of fish or all together ROFL 3 types repashy 3 tropical flakes 5 algae wafers hikari first bites northfin fry starter freeze dried brine shrimp freeze dried bloodworms hikari fancy guppy food 2 sinking shrimp granules shrimp baby shrimp dinner bacter ae shrimp fit shrimp mineral snowflake shrimp food shrimp lollipops seaweed sheets dr Tim Hawaii’s spirulina powder i also make my own spirulina wafers and snail lollipops geez 27 yup food collector typing it out it seems like a lot yet .......in my defense my longfin lemon blue eye Plecos refuse to eat 3 of the wafers. All the flake is ground up together I don’t use bacter , fit, mineral or snowflake because it makes the tank nasty or shrimp dinner NOONE will eat that and having a plethora of snails I don’t need it. 🙂
  6. Jurassic park when all the cute baby Dino’s were looking so adorable begging for food..then feed them and voracious ferocity....that’s my guppies.
  7. Throw a Mystery snail or two in your tank. Their digestion is poor and their waste is natural infusoria for small fry. My microscopic CPD fry thrived without live foods or anything other than first bites. They were my first fish in this hobby and I was clueless and still successful thanks to snails.
  8. I always feel mean quarantining so start adding plants to make them feel comfortable...then more plants....then driftwood...then yuppers new aquarium because my qt loves it and seems cozy so....new qt tank and the cycle begins again
  9. I use inkbird temp regulators. Like 30$ stick probe in water plug heater into inkbird you can plug in two on the cheap model. Temp hits a certain temp it cuts the power. When temp falls below it turns power back on. Also alerts you it’s running too hot
  10. So thankful for this post. My 2 lemon blue eye longfins will only eat fresh steamed green beans. I even tried canned and no go. Sometimes they will eat broccoli fresh steamed frozen never. But nice full round bellies so I’m not over worried. I use plant weights and drop them in their food dish and aquas cape tweezers to retrieve the weight. No green bean means I have two sad eyed puppy dogs sitting inside their food dish making me feel heaps of guilt but funny to see.
  11. Thank you for your help. Yeah I got told never to downgrade endlers by cross breeding keep them pure etc.....it’s not like I’m mass producing them just for me and my friends but no one was helpful about cross breeding.
  12. *sigh* nope can’t do that each of my pets is a family member to me. Will it at least make them a bit stronger and healthier? Had previously thought to go the Endler route but so much internet bashing to even ask those questions like it is mega taboo. ?.. l am a home hobbyist nothing more. I used a magnifying glass to sex them and separate at 4 weeks but 3 are pregnant I can’t see them any younger I looked everyday. My boy is in the community tank so it wasn’t him. They had no color at that point either sex.
  13. Sto clarify different male second gen different male third etc
  14. Having gone through all the heartache of new guppy ownership prior to finding ACO quarantine trio it just should not have to be so rough. Guppies used to be the 5 year olds indestructible pet. After I got on the right track I became serious about guppies...not to line breed or make profit but rather to try and retrieve some of the healthy indestructibility. I don’t care what color they are or how their fins are shaped but rather that they are no longer delicate so folks I know and run across can begin the hobby without the tears and heartache I went through. So 2 questions... i started with 4 unrelated different color guppy girls and one boy all from different sources to attempt to get as genetically diversified as possible. I separate sexes as soon as I can tell with a magnifying glass what sex they are. My first batch was not successfully separated in time it was 4 weeks to the birth day I separated and half my sorority tank is pregnant to their brothers. So next several did great. Goal is to never ever allow related guppies to mate using only my boy to father offspring. He is a tank I want that strength. So my question is am I kidding myself that the evolution of my guppies genetics down the line will strengthen as Mother Nature intended or has line breeding bred out all the strongest genes so far they are not coming back....am I on the right track? second question is...seriously I have found no reference to guppies with no color at 4 weeks old getting pregnant. I do not want inbred guppies how soon do I really need to separate to ensure virgin girls in my sorority tanks. Thanks for the help
  15. The only way i get java to grow is attaching it to the glass above the gravel with airline suction cups then it goes wild. Any other way for me they die no matter what i do. Here id a pic of one in my community tank and one in my fry tank so you can see ehat i mean
  16. I have 9 mystery snails one nerite and a bunch of bladders. My first aquarium I bought as a dedicated mystery snail tank. I love them so much if you don’t have a bubbler get one every one of my snails play in the bubbles and then parachutes across the aquarium and then goes back to play in the bubbles more they love bubbles.
  17. I have 9 plus a nerite plus bladder snails. When I set up my first aquarium it was because I fell in love with mystery snails. It was a dedicated snail tank. For whatever reason I can’t get the ice uploaded but I will try later so you can see my heard devouring green beans.
  18. Your ph must stay above 7. 7.4-7.6 is awesome mine love it and I have many. Anything below 7 and the shell will continue to erode until it gets holes and eventually weakens your snail until it passes. epsom salt api liquid calcium wondershells dr. Turtle calcium block and are all products that have worked reliably for me and are super easy. Zoomed spirulina calcium blocks are also good. Aq coop sells most of these things. Mine DEVOUR steamed fresh green beans broccoli stalks(florets make a mess) steamed baby carrots blanched zucchini I use a plant weight to sink them. It is so fun to watch them nom on fresh veggies green beans are their favorite.
  19. I keep bladder snails in all my tanks. Mother nature’s most awesome gardener they will not eat live plants only the parts dying or dead giving the plant a chance at fresh growth. Want perfect plants keep him. They only reproduce to the food they have algae and detritus. Keep your tank clean and they won’t overpopulate. Bladder snails are beneficial if you line them up with the head by your head and look down on their shell the spire goes left. They have delicate hairlike antenna and yellow spots on the shell...yours is definitely an adorable bladder snail. Use a magnifying glass they are fascinating to watch and very beautiful. If the spire goes right and the antenna look like spike horns it’s pond snail that will eat live plants first. 🙂 enjoy your free gardener. If there is only one in 8 weeks it will reproduce without a mate if it has enough food. Only poorly maintained overfed tanks become overpopulated.
  20. My bearded dragon likes to watch my shrimp and guppy fry. He has his own ledge.
  21. I keep my cpds with my guppies. When cpds were small I fed northin fry food at the same time as flake releasing the north fin in water flake half on top half in water release. Guppies and endless are piggies and go for the big bits so cpds get the small. Now I crush all flake food and do 50/50 in out food release as cpds are full grown. Cpds are faster so they eat plenty. They also adore Hikari fancy guppy food now same 50/50 release and I have very well fed cpd. They get along splendidly with my guppies. Great tank mates. Endlers are near identical to guppies so you should enjoy both in the same tank. They are fun.
  22. I intentionally used snowball neon yellow Sunkist orange red cherry and blue just so I was guaranteed to get the “wild” color variation (my favorite) and multi colored unusual colored. I also hoped to long term get a sturdier genetic profile..mission accomplished. Mine overpopulate and are so prolific I give them away and they are still going strong even after a Damselfly batch hatched grrrr. I now do 40 % water changes twice a week due to high waste fish and snails and my shrimp do not spontaneously molt...they love gravel vac and water change days they come flocking front and center to find what juicy tidbits get stirred up. Have not lost a shrimp to molt issues or death in forever.
  23. Some cat litter boxes have automated mechanical sifters that swipe the box on a timer and remove the waste...so automated fish shrimp and snail safe gravel vacuum ROFL
  24. Replaced all my canister medium prefilter sponges with aqcoop coarse...large then decided I now had beautiful aquarium for my centerpiece prefilters lol. So downsized to medium aq coop with center hole cut larger. My tanks are all 10 and 20 long. I have lots of magenta and albino mystery snails and bladder snails shrimp galore I give away by the dozen to control population and Plecos in them and of coarse guppies guppies and more guppies that’s why overkill for filtration. Also stuck new aq coop coarse sponges in all of them to establish so I can get rid of the useless fine sponges. Rescued fry from new guppy quarantine tank with two girls who didn’t even look pregnant undergoing q trio meds....SURPRISE! Replaced some led plant lights and the highlight ...planted two Anubis nana petite from aq coop in my sorority tank...oh my goodness they are perfect and soooo super healthy. Aq coop is my now go to plant store!
  25. Mine spawn like crazy without me wanting them too. I have mystery snails and bladder snails in their tank and the fry actually eat the infusoria created by snail waste due to snails very inefficient digestion. My fry sometimes survive and grow on that because I don’t feed them but they grow then I feel guilty and start feeding them...sigh thank goodness my LFS loves them. 🙂
