  1. I’m glad you found one you like. Sorry about your canister though.
  2. I used metal clips I got at Lowe’s. They are not for tanks and for the life of me I don’t remember what they were for. But they worked ok. The problem is if the clips don’t break easy when cat jumps on them the tank wall can crack
  3. My tiger was less active and less aggressive than my scarlets. I only had a single male. @beastie has tigers also. Maybe they can provide more info.
  4. Good luck. I hope you keep us updated. I’m also converting a basement to relocate my two upstairs bedrooms to a single more functional room.
  5. I only have 1 I know is a male. He bred with the first female. Once the breeding tubes retract I cannot tell them apart again. The original post video is the only one I took. The other two are immature yet. Now they are back to their happy group dynamics and I can’t tell any of them apart make/female. I originally took some fry but by day 3 I noticed the fry pile dwindling and parents not so diligent so I siphoned out more and left only a few. They got eaten.
  6. It should turn white pink or purple witching 24 hours. The only time it did not for me was I had a bottle of seltzer I opened fresh but did not get a big blast of spray. I suspect that bottle was slightly flat and did not work as it should. Bba takes 9-12 hours in fresh non flat soda to die. The bba will remain in the plant but it will be dead indicated by a color change.
  7. 2 Bolivians paired and laid these. 2 are not mature yet and 2 more FEMALES paired and laid eggs together on a rock. Weirdest thing ever. All eggs infertile of course. I guess it was the best way they could think to rid themselves of roe. The two females guarding the infertile double clutch
  8. Both coats of paint are on. Trim is painted. Carpet and tack boards are up. the lower 20 inches of 2 walls are exposed foundation stone that sticks 2 inches into the room. We are in process of putting up 1 inch insulation board over it. We already picked out the wallpaper for over it. Next step is redo the duct work. The vinyl flooring was delivered. It’s coming right along at Gup’s old people pace 🤣 NOT a scale drawing by even the most wild stretch of the imagination. But a rough draft layout. mAlso those stand are all double tank stands. They each represent 2 tanks. All these tanks are current the only new tanks being added are a 40B and 8 10g tanks for breeding and grow out
  9. I have never used no planaria. I have used fenbendazole in shrimp tanks several times with complete success and no harm to the shrimp. .1 (point one) milligram per 10 gallons. Wait 24 hours dose again on top of what you already did no water change. Wait 5-7 days vac and do a 50 % water change. Resume normal schedule. Keep an eye on ammonia as planaria die they release ammonia. This is NOT snail safe. I feed lots of live foods so encounter planaria more often than I care to over the years. In 5 years of shrimp in all my tanks I have never had an issue using fenbendazole. I buy Panacur C dog dewormer on Amazon. Use a gram scale that goes to tenths. edit seems I did not refresh my browser and missed the leech ID sorry.
  10. Very strange. On the up side my pair so far are being fabulous parents. The kids are trying for fully free swimming this morning. A few days ago another “pair” formed. Massive amount of eggs easily double what my first pair laid. I did not get to see them lay but I saw them what I’m guessing was shortly after. Their breeding tubes were still out. I swear they both looked like female breeding tubes!!! Within a day and a half every egg turned white meaning infertile. They guarded them for another day then ate all but 5 white infertile ones they are still guarding. They dug holes but no fry to move to the holes. So both girls formed a “pair ” and both laid eggs together on one rock in one unified clutch. Both guarded. The last two br are smaller still and show no maturity signs so either they are girls also or just to immature to be a viable mate. Im anxious to see how it goes when the first fry go free swimming. BR based on what I’m seeing definitely seem like community breeding fish to me and maybe that’s why they change partners often based on what I read of others accounts. Very interesting
  11. We have several chicken keeper members. @Sal @laritheloud and a few others.
  12. Kudos for sharing honestly. I see so Many folks go gung ho on fishrooms. Often it begins interfering in relationships due to the time they take. When I was working I would have never considered a fishroom. I’m retired now so have more time on my hands than I can possibly fill. My physical health has eliminated many of my other hobby’s. My hobby is now what keeps me physically active and makes me still feel useful in life and is incredibly life affirming. Losing my usefulness in the workplace I lost purpose and focus in life. My husband and I have no children and he still works full time. That is a lot of time to fill for someone who does not watch tv. I do read but being sedentary is not a healthy lifestyle. As a hobbyist I prefer to keep 12-14 tanks and not more so I do get to experience that connection with each and every fish in my family. When I joined local fish clubs I found an outlet for all the babies my fish make. I’ve joined with two other hobbyists who made a business of fish. (To all those thinking of getting rich and quitting their job on fish: even this joint effort does not replace a full time income. Only allows for a few extra luxuries and some mad money) I’ve expanded by adding 7 grow out tanks. Im at a point now the 2 converted bedrooms are too crowded and become an obstacle course during water changes. I have decided to convert my spacious basement into a fish room in order to make the work easier and frees my living space of buckets and excess fish clutter, shipping supplies etc. If building a fish room makes your life easier I highly recommend this. If your goal is just to have more tanks and more fish please reread @Lennie account. When you do not have time to watch and form that connection it becomes a job. A job that pays way less than minimum wage and does not have the fringe benefits of those fish being pets and fun vs possessions and work. Consult with those in your life first. Time is finite. Be sure they support the amount of time you will be dedicating to the hobby. If it’s not fun and fulfilling it’s no longer a hobby.
  13. There is a lever that controls flow output from minimum to maximum. One of the things I love about the 07 series.
  14. I use quite a few fluval 07 series. I put intake /outflow on opposite back corners. I like to place my outflow at the surface to get max surface agitation and aeration. That also allows me to turn the flow higher without the current blowing my fish around ****my fish are all considerably smaller than an Oscar***** I recommend no floss in the fluval. It clogs very quickly adding stress to the canister and excess need for tearing it open and cleaning. On the side I have the intake I use. Hob to get flow. I use airstones in the center. I use this setup template on 9 of my tanks I use the 07 series canisters. I experimented with many different setups and placements. This works best for me. Hope that helps.
  15. I use these. Thick never fall apart work great.
  16. Branches can take the place of plastic plants for structure to make fish feel safe and take up less tank room than rock.
  17. He looks nice and plump. I would do nothing but monitor for a week. I’m sure the meds make them feel yucky the way they make humans feel yucky.
