  1. I bought it on Amazon but they don’t carry this version any more. If you ever see this version buy it because fish loose their mind over it.
  2. @braids To your last question yes he is a Cane Corso. Now to your fish keeping issue, If you have to reduce pH adding organic matter in the form of leaves and drift wood (Mopani is dense & high in tannins) should drop your pH gradually. Also the addition of RO water will help. Walmart has RO water dispensers selling refills for .39₵ a gallon. You should be able reduce your pH by a couple of points say to the 7.6-7.8 range and slightly soften your water in time and should also hold those parameters more consistently. Good luck.
  3. Do a water change of at least 50% and see if that helps. Also when was the last time you cleaned your filter?
  4. @JennyFirst don't chase pH especially with chemicals the effects don't last long and the fluctuations won't be good for the fish. I would look for locally bred fish that are used to the water conditions in your area. 5. If you just got them it may take a few days for them to acclimate . Also Discus are shoaling fish so they do better when there's at least 4-5 of them in the tank. You can try giving them bloodworms. I've never seen a Discus turn them down.
  6. @HenryCWith water parameters like yours I would say Discus keeping would be extremely difficult but not impossible. If you could find someone selling Discus imported from Europe you may have chance. European Discus have been raised in very hard water for many years. Have you thought of African lake cichlids? They really love that hard water.
  7. @Swred5That is definitely a female. Females are more colorful than males. This female is not in breeding colors. The picture below shows a pair in breeding colors. The male is in the foreground. Males are larger and long with a spade tail. Females are smaller and rounder with a round tail.
  8. Have a planted tank that you need to move fish out of but you just can’t catch them? Stick an O-Nip tablet on the glass. I had to move 3 surplus male Kribs out of 40 breeder and wasn’t having much success netting them. When I put the tablet on the glass the target fish were so interested in the tablet I caught all three in less than a minute. No muss no fuss.
  9. Do yourself a favor get some coarse sponge and polishing pads you’ll save money and your filter will work better. Just cut the fabric and sponge to fit behind the blue plastic frame and run the filter as usual. Putting a sponge on the intake will reduce the number of times you’ll need to clean the filtration media.
  10. Who made the tank?
  11. @dorsalfinthe Pencilfish pose no threat to the Apistos. Their mouths are too small to eat fry so you will be able to breed Apistos. I keep Pencilfish with Discus, Tetras, & Bosemani Rainbows with no problems. In fact they basically don’t bother with the other fish.
  12. It’s been my experience that Ottos can be hit or miss depending on how they were handled before you got them. If you get them with a sunken stomach the chances for success goes way down. Also you really shouldn’t add them into your tank until it’s been up & running for awhile. Most of what they eat (algae and micro fauna)is only available in established tanks.
  13. I have inkbirds on all my tanks. My heat differential is 3F except in the Discus tank which I keep at a steady 84F.
  14. @Danielgood luck with them. I’ve been toying with the idea of adding Pygmy Sunfish or Trout Goodieds to the collection next year. I hope you keep us posted on your progress.
  15. No @Danielyou still have to stick your hands in the tank.😉
  16. That’s the medium. I use it on all my hobs and on the intake of my Eheim 3 Pro canister.
  17. I have a 120 which is the same depth and width and I’m running two 48” lights to get good plant growth. 1 is a Stingray 2.0 and the other is a Marineland fixture.
  18. I have Whispers running all my air filtration, but I also run HOBs in the same tanks.
  19. You really can’t go wrong with whatever you choose. So go to your LFS and see what Corys they have. Just make sure they’re good sized. I’ve seen some that weren’t much more than large fry.
  20. @EpicFish73I have Pandas in 82F water with Kribs and they’re breeding. Dwarf cichlids tend to inhabit the bottom 1/3 of the tank so you may have some fighting over territory. You can minimize it some by using visual barriers. Good luck.
  21. Two observations about the CoOp BBS. After using two other well known brands the CoOp BBS hatch for me about 6-8 hours quicker and the hatch rate is higher. I use the the same hatching procedure as I did before 1 lt cold water 1 tbsp aquarium salt, a good pinch of baking soda, & 1 tsp BBS cysts then turn on the bubbles and let it rip. Within 24 hrs they're ready to go.
  22. I hatch a teaspoon at a time and I usually get two separate feedings out of that. 6 tanks 120, 40B, 2-20L,10 & 5 gallon. Everything from adult Discus to Peacock Gudgens loves some BBS.
