Hey everyone, so the tank I purchased came with one of those incandescent lighted hoods, since I didn't think I would care too much about the lighting of my tank. Well I could not have been more wrong haha, I dont like the look of the current lights, and I am now looking to replace them. Can I replace the incandescent bulbs for LED or CFL bulbs, or would I need to buy a whole new hood and lighting system? Thank you for taking the time to read!

I purchased a Finnex 247 programmable light . I originally started with the auto setting but after about a week I had time to observe all times of day and night and noticed it never turned completely off. I am not at all knowledgeable in this area but I am thinking it might be best to have the light completely off for 6 hours and then 3 hours in the morning and 3 hours in the evening for low/med light . My concern is that I don’t know “how much” of each color to set during the most bright part of the day? I was hoping the light would come with guidance but it didn’t. Any suggestions are appreciated!

I have this 30-36 inch Nicrew LED light. My aquarium is 24 inches and I have a plexiglass sheet on top (acrylic plexiglass 1/4’’ thick). As the light is too long, the feet (brackets?) won’t be able to rest on the plexiglass. Is it ok to just place the lamp directly on the plexi, with no space in between? Would the heat damage or melt the plexiglass or the light? Thank you! Karen

LED Lighting Recommendation for a large tank? 180, so 72”x24x24. I've been looking at the new Current USA Serene series since they offer a 72” LED which I like aesthetically. If I went with Fluval or Finnex I”d have to have mount 36” side by side so unless much better for the plants or visual effect, I'd prefer a single 72” bat. I'm new to serious planting - just anubius, swords and Val in past - so your input much appreciated.

I recently bought a used 8 gallon biocube that I am going to use for a Betta. The old lights in the hood still work but will need replacing. I would rather gut the hood electronics and replace the lights with a LED panel. Without modification I have about 4x10 inches to work with and 7x10 if I make some changes to the reflector etc. Any suggestions for LEDs that might work?

Greetings! I bought the Marina 10 gallons aquarium LED kit. My substrate is flourite black. Can the LED light included in the lid grow any live plants and/or moss? I will use the aquarium for 5-6 guppies and cherry shrimps. My hope would be to grow a carpet of moss using 2 meshes tied together so the shrimps can hide in it. Is it possible with that light? If yes, should I use fertilizer/root tabs, anything? Any other type of plants, moss or floating plants could grow? Thank you! Karen
