  1. That's perfect. We talk about creating the food web, the microfauna and the predators. You've just extended the concepts to your whole household
  2. I have blue dream, and if I were to buy more shrimp, I'd buy blue dream again. I love them.
  3. I added more to my post above - it's the Marina Penguin Biowheel.
  4. Irene from aquarium co op wraps a rubber band around her lid to quiet the noise. Not sure what type of HOB she has, but maybe that little hack would work for the Tidal? The AC... grr... dumps all the water every power outage and runs dry all day if power comes back on while I'm at work. No thank you. Take a hike, AquaClear! Been running this same Marina biowheel for, let's see.. since 2006 at least. Probably longer than that. Pretty sure it has been through a few moves before that from say, 1999-2006. I don't think I've bought any other filter. And..! You're going to cringe at this @nabokovfan87... I only cleaned the impeller one time. 🤣 (Disclosure.. I did not use/run the filter for 5 of those years because I moved and tank was decommissioned for a time) Only reason I bought the AC earlier this year was because when I did clean the impeller in like spring this year (yep, this was the only time I cleaned it 🙂) - I didn't quite seat it properly, but it worked fine for a few days, then quit. But really it didn't quit. I just thought it did. Took apart, reassembled carefully, still working like a dream. I'm never cleaning that impeller again! I had problems when I cleaned it! Let's avoid problems and not clean impellers! I want to start a movement!
  5. Cool! If you're ever looking to get dive certified, I can recommend several shops. I've got connections! 😉
  6. I did a 180 on black ice.. in my car.. on a highway.. hit the concrete divider. Then after my car was repaired I moved to Florida. Yeah that doesn't feel good. I did that when I was younger, rollerskating at the skating rink, and the way I fell, my skate was under me and my tailbone landed on my wheel. Ouuuuuchhhhh! I can picture this with a soundtrack of circus music. 🤣 Or the Benny Hill theme song.
  7. I'm guessing the great white. He's a real card shark. There's a wreck here in Florida - a casino boat that was intentionally sunk for scuba recreation. It's called the Lady Luck. Haven't dove it, personally - but here's one of the parts of it.
  8. My Bolivian ram’s favorite food is boiled squash!
  9. It’s easy to grow. The only time it did poorly for me is when I tried to plant it. It’s happy as can be floating around. Don’t be afraid to trim and remove some for upkeep. If you want more of it, you can cut stems in half and each half will grow its own roots. Me too. 🙂
  10. I agree with @Katherine and @Guppysnail. Mystery snails need calcium (for their shell), protein (for their operculum - the little door that they can close if they want to retreat into their shell), and vegetables for nutrients. Algae alone is not enough to sustain a snail, and if it is eating a healthy plant (they normally eat decaying plants), it is doing so because it cannot find a food source to cover all the bases, or cannot find enough food to sustain it. Providing your snail with boiled green beans/zucchini/carrots etc, banquet blocks, crab cuisine, etc is going to keep the snail off your plants. They eat more than you think! @Stan Z
  11. Yep, that’s true @TheSwissAquarist. Snails can lay fertilized eggs for months after mating. The snail may have mated in the pet store and is just now laying the eggs. I only had one snail also and I hatched the eggs. Those are indeed mystery snail eggs in your photo @GisheryGoodness Below in my signature line is my mystery snail eggs journal; if you are interested in hatching your eggs. It explains how I did it.
  12. Yeah when I’m closer to the tank he just stays in front and tries to get my attention, it seems.
