  1. Welcome to the forum @Alaya that 55 seems like quite the setup!!!
  2. I think this would go well with your stand: https://www.amazon.ca/Atlas-Homewares-2204-R-4-Inch-Fish/dp/B0016BPVQU/ref=sr_1_19?dchild=1&keywords=fish+door+knobs&qid=1610732559&sr=8-19 Heres a picture:
  3. I can't seem to find live black worms where I live. I have checked every local fish store (3) and none of them sell it. I'm just assuming they dont have them at big box pet stores, but I so want to try and feed that. Where do you get them, from a big box store or just a mom and pops shop?
  4. Very nice setup, I love the plants at the top!!!
  5. I was going to say whats Andy said. They seem that they would work great for tranpsorting fish.
  6. Snails will help with your algae problem, they will breed and make more babies. They will soon be a little algae fighting army. And algae is completley normal, I've never owned a tank (and probably never will) that didn't have algae.
  7. I have a lid on all my aquariums because of my cats. but the other one will spend all day trying to catch one. I put a towel over my aquarium to kill off the green water and my cat is hating me for it. She has tried to take the towel off but no sucess yet. Thats really funny though!!!
  8. I would dose easy green as it sounds like your not. Nitrates should be up a little more for the plants to feed off of. If your looking for plants that will grow under any conditions heres a few: -Hornwort -Moss I wouldn't add corydoras as they will probably eat the shrimp (unless you removed them, which I dont remember reading). All though Pygmy Corys may be okay with the shrimp
  9. Agree with @Daniel and @Socqua flipaquatics is a well known shrimp distrubuter, they know what there doing. If flip aquatics is willing to ship its good enough me.
  10. I was going to say it was going to be a tank cycling issue but I don't beleive it is because the Nitrates are in check, Usually I like them a bit higher at 20ppm but its still fine. As far as what could be happening, I have no clue.
  11. I'm not going to lie, those koi angel fry are GOURGOUES and I am so in love with them. They are like half black and half yellow.
  12. Yes!!! #nerm needs to be fish related! You've got me onboard
  13. I beleive cory has said in multiple live streams that planted tank substrate is never mandatory regardless of what kind of scape your making. as far as how, heres what I would do: -Get your siphon -And siphon out all the sand -Then, poor the planted tank substrate in. Be cautious of the fish though.
  14. I would suggest to remove it if you have a empty tank
  15. Yes I do. Winnipeg, MB to be exact. I just thought of something, try a salt bath. Heres a video on how to do it:
  16. To feed them I would do a mixture of -Veggies (zuchinni and cucumber) -Repashy -Algae Wafers (all though it may hard to get the ottos on the algae wafers)
  17. I think your thinking of marine salt. The aquarium salt (that you should be using) does not effect the salinity of the water (how much salt is in the water) aquarium salt is used for medicating where as marine salt is used for saltwater tanks. You also mentioned that you had your betta for 2+ years. He could just be a old betta. You dont know the agè you got him at, he could 3 or 4 years old. His immune system may not be as good as it was when you first got him.
  18. I was also going to post my feeding scehdule for this little guy: Tuesday - Thursday and Saturday - Sunday: Mixture of NorthFIn Betta Pellets and Hikare Betta Bio Gold Pellets Monday: Fluval Bug Bites Friday: Frozen Blood Worms
  19. lol, I just relized I didn't post a picture like I said I would: The debris on the bottom is a mixture of, sand (when I poured the water in, there was some sand in my buckets) Dirty Filter Juice (to speed up the cycle, I squeezed one of my pre-seeded spongefilter) and fish food. All of this was to hurry up the nitrogen cycle.
  20. I wouldn't do 4-5 Peacock gudgeons, that would be overstocking. I would do instead 1 or 3. (not two, two may result in fighting.)
  21. I have no idea what that is. I dont think its a egg sack from a snail as they lay them out of water. It is very hard to find a aquatic vet here in canada. And when you find a vet willing to write you a perscription the vet does not know what there talking about. Maybe its just where I live or I haven't been able to find that hidden gem. @Kathryn_S because you live in Canada Maracyn is off the table. So then after a week of salt treatment I would try, supertech. I have heard AWESOME reviews from it saying stuff like "it cured my ilness in a day", etc. Heres a link: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B08MCJW3RC They do not classify as a fish medication because this way they won't have to respond to health canada. Also I have been able to find API melafix in big box petstores, all though I would try the supertech before the melafix.
