  1. Have you put the water in a white cup or bowl and seen if its green color or not? I feel this simply a symptom of the tank being basically a new tank. I find anything under a 6 months is def subject to this happening. Wait it out like said before it will pass.
  2. I can't really tell the difference from normal Amazon's I just assumed it was cause if my low tech setup.
  3. I been putting the Anachris my is on in the shrimp tank they seem to love it!
  4. By using a small deli cup and putting them in slowly. It will probably could up so you might want to have clarify on hand.
  5. 20 gallons also isn't a super huge burden for meds only double what a lot of people do in a 10g. I'd treat them with med trio when u get em. Then u should be golden
  6. Very nice. I just love the whole experience and excitement of them even having babies!
  7. My major complaint with the P stores isn't so much the employees, but how the corporate chooses to handle the fish with out quarantine. They have very little interest in dealing healthy fish imo.
  8. I love mystery snails for glass cleaning. They aren't quite as effective as other but I enjoy them. I love using my CRS to clean my stem plants when they get algae growth. And plecos are my fav fish cleaner with Cory's a close second.
  9. Don't make sudden changes. Change one thing and wait and watch.
  10. I also use a Tupperware container floating in my tank to incubate them. Also I have no tank mates that are remotely a threat to them.
  11. Do you guys find this bad advice comes exclusively from box store type places or LFS as well? All the employees i have interaction with at the LFS are at least as knowledgeable as me.
  12. One thing I really love about freshwater is I can reuse the nitrate rich water on plants. Using the dead fish is just another thing to add to the ways it enhances my world 🙂
  13. This is my first time dealing with egg layers and so I was really just trying to gage my ability to successfully breed them not overly interested in money from it at this point thats just a good side benefit. I estimate there to be over 100 eggs so if I get 25 ill be satisfied this go 👌
  14. I'd like to get a bit of guppy grass to start with but I'm finding it difficult to get from anywhere reputable.
  15. Nearly all freshwater fish will dine on leeches, but red-eared sunfish are known to have a special affinity for them and will eat them in massive quantities if given the opportunity. Dunno if that's realistic way to handle it. They look like big boys haha
  16. I'm really digging sparkle swords. I have 2 plants sending out runners that are 4 foot long or more with several plantlings on each! It seems they are thriving at a level ive never been able to match with anything else.
  17. Can't really go wrong with celestial pearls imo
  18. My rainbow chiclids just laid their first set of eggs. I've done some reading and got a semi developed plan in place. I was wondering what is considered success when dealing with fish breeding percentage wise? I know the number of eggs they lay is fairly high, but I'm assuming nowhere near all of them can be expected to be successful. Anyone have history with egg laying chiclids?
  19. Mine are fed to the woods. First come first served.
  20. Yes you can but you have to be careful and very vigilant
