  1. Well you could run the new and old one at once if possible
  2. Very nice tanks. Some really nice growth!
  3. Are you planning specific goals for each tank? That would make a good bit of difference in how I designed them.
  4. Well I used fenbendazole food I mixed myself and it was like a magic bullet. But it was a fair bit of work compared to others because I had to use dog dewormer to get the active ingredient and add that to flakes with epsom salt and garlic. Callanus worms are pretty tricky to remove and fenbendazole is the only killer for them.
  5. Well neo and standard cardinia can't physically cross breed based on my read due to physical difference. However I think mixing strands of either looks fun even if you get some muddy ones
  6. I'm constantly wondering what would be the next best step. Better lights or co2? The co2 has been a little scary to be honest.
  7. Mine has been honestly breeding and actually selling guppies 😄 the idea of having fish that actually make more income than they cost me over the course of their lives totally changed my mindset on the hobby. Before I kept fish with no other goal than just having and enjoying them. Now I'm doing that and it's paying for its self! My cherry shrimp finally spawning was a close second. I had tried like 2-3 times to get a colony of shrimp going with no success. This time I started with 12 and currently estimate I'm creeping on 100!
  8. I think any old tank is very well suited especially when equipped with a matter filter and or sponge
  9. @Daniel I believe the neocardinia prefer higher ph in the 7-7.8 range where as the cardinia prefer ur range. From what I've heard they are very close in breeding difficulty. Neo being slightly easier. You can probably keep both types in there since they won't cross breed.
  10. My BN are my wife's fav so they are quite baby'd as well. I have been using bug bites waffers as well as hakari. I'm thinking when they get closer to breeding age going to the serra brand.
  11. I think the care packages are a awesome idea. I'm really enjoying the forum in general and the thought of getting something cool makes it even better 🙂
  12. I use a pipet with frozen brine shrimp and submerge it to get it lower in the column.
  13. I have wrapped mine around rocks and my other plants. It also floats in my stem plant ball
  14. I totally miss read that 😜 I blame standing in the sun for to long today. Sounds like your are doing everything that jumps out at me. Is the spectrum adjustable on those lights?
  15. Well I don't think it's ich. The cycle of ich I'd the cyst would run their course fall off to the substrate then go back into the water as the parasite hunting for a host. The cysts would then be in a different spot. That being said have you tried the med trio? I feel it will handle most everything there is out there common in the fish world. I'm thinking it's more likely a fungus or bacterial issue.
  16. I had same thing happen. Did a extensive vac and water change schedule and dosed extra prime to bind up the ammonia. My tank looked like it had snowed multiple colored snow from the flakes. In the end I had nothing die but they definitely showed stress symptoms.
  17. I definitely agree on crushed coral. Buffers will keep the oh nice and stable which is more important than any specific ph. If your local fish store has the same water parameters as u what you have should be good.
  18. I get the may or may not be present idea. However, the conditions almost all lfs or box store fish are raised and handled means you have a very good chance they have at least some issue. The meds also do not harm the fish. Cory has used them on thousands of fish and I've used on close to a hundred with no harm to any. I'd highly recommend you treat them.
  19. Was referring to the middle and bottom tanks sorry. The edit button is hidden graphically under my post for some reason
  20. I really love the lighting look there. How much would you estimate that is in lighting I'm currently using a very cheap like that illumates fairly well but not sure about the actual quality of the light I'm getting.
  21. How crafty are you? I set a 55 gallon tank on a home made stand made of 2*10's and 2*6's. I'll be happy to snap some photos of you are interested.
  22. I think the biggest mistake I made was setting up a tank with out doing enough research and getting too frantic with purchasing things for it. Now I have a 30 gallons with gravel and a undergravel filter and plants 😅.
  23. I believe you will need a minimum of 20.gallons per pair. I believe a 40 could work especially if their was something breaking the tank somewhat in half like a large drift wood or something. And use Cory's at the bottom from what I hear they don't mind them to much.
