  1. Is there a online vendor who sales deans fish? I live in Tennessee so getting to Washington is a bit of a stretch
  2. General cure is same thing as Mardel Maracyn and is a couple dollars cheaper than general cure. In my opinion of I had to pick a cheapest possible route I'd do 1 tablespoon per gallon aquarium salt and paracleanse. I would then very closely inspect all fish I was to get for symptoms of ich and obvious external conditions. I feel this is a broad spectrum treatment and covers most ur bases.
  3. I believe if I could not afford the med trio and was willing to gamble a bit I'd save the money I'd spend on general cure because the one in the trio is more bang for the buck and is same meds. I'd def treat them with salt at the very least and as soon as I possibly could invest in the trio. It's not a small amount of cash to fork out but until you do I'd assume all the fish as sick. Wasting disease will take a bit of time to kill but they will likely be stunted at the very least.
  4. It's generally recommended to quarantine all fish you get. I generally do a one week quarantine using the med trio and consider them disease free after that.
  5. This what I have but there is like 50 baby shrimp who love to play in it so it's extremely tedious to remove with out getting the shrimp
  6. I use frozen brine shrimp and they seem to work
  7. Definitely sounds like a bacterial bloom. Carbon may help?
  8. I think I'd use a sheet of wood between the bricks and the tank to spread the load more evenly.
  9. Thats a fair bit of weight. I believe water items self weights about 8 lbs a gallon o believe I'd def put the adjustable floor jacks in at the points that line up with the racks load.
  10. I really enjoy that I'm making a small world and making changes all the choices and seeing if that makes the world better. I also love the idea of the hobby making some of the money back through breeding

  12. Yea I'm sure it would the root plants seem to consume most of the detritus in the area around them. I am a huge fan of swords and all the crypts. They look good to my eye and are super easy.
  13. I find the duckweed more of a burden to remove and control seems to stick to everything
  14. I personally do not like duck weed it blocks to much light. I grow frogbit and I really like the long dangling roots and the interconnected portions.
  15. Very good point I will actually ask the fish store people. 😄 They might be a secret society trying to change the world's fish keeping by pulling nstrings from the darkness 🤫
  16. @FishObsessed and @Bill the substrate is seachem florite. And I know this not the general wisdom of the community but I have never gravel vacuumed it. In the early days of the tank I did frequent water changes but since then it more or less is self sufficient. I top off the water and clean the spounges a fair bit. The substrate is also very very dusty when moved so I really avoid disturbing it. I did hover my gravel vac inch or so above the substrate when I first put it together to get the dust out and I have used clarify when it gets really disturbed.
  17. I am happy to share any knowledge or experiences I can give. Cory has given me fountains of information for free so giving back is great feeling!
  18. I would like to see a python type device that has a chamber for Prime to be added at a metered rate. I am looking into getting a chlorine block filter and automatic thermo valve that u can set and a large tank to age water in.
  19. I would think Trumpets and pygmy would be used together. The pygmy will focus on the top of the substrate and the trumpets will burrow and get the below as well as helping to keep it less compact. One other schooling fish id consider would be white clouds or danios.
  20. I would love to be in a club that would give me access to fish outside of my area. Knoxville Tn is not exactly the hub of exotic fish 🙂 . I would love a breeder like Dean to be made available to me.
  21. I use silk plants in my hospital tank to avoid fin damage and I like the way they move in the current. However, there are some rather nice fake plants out there and you could have a very beautiful tank with them. I do feel the pros that live plants offer really make them the best option.
  22. Ich is a slow killer. Normally it kills by draining the fish slowly. It should take a several days to kill a healthy fish. It will take several treatments per the label. It normally takes me about 2 weeks to fully be rid of it.
