  1. Hi Fam, I got back from vacation today and my plants and tank are covered in what I think is black beard algae... can someone confirm? Is there an easy method to deal with bba? Im going to start with easy carbon tonight, but was unsure if I should manually remove some of the plants and try to brush it off. Thanks in advance.
  2. The top growth of some of my scarlet temple plants have been taken over by what appears to be a green hair algae? None of my other plants, including the slow growing java ferns, anubias, or crypts are having this issue. The other temples seem ok. What should I do? (Excuse the guppies. They are camera hogs)
  3. what is the best way to get rid of white hair algae iv tryed everything ?
  4. I have cut my light to 6 hours, but is it better to run the light during the daytime or into the evening. My tank has indirect room light during the day time and lights and TV during the evening hours. When will I get the most benefit to slow down the algae. I work during the day and would miss seeing the tank if it is off during the evening with dark at 5:00 pm now.
  5. So I saw a FB post from a fella who used API Algaefix in his planted tank, and said it did wonders without killing the plants. It being FB, naturally some controversey ensued and the post dropped off the map before I could form an informed opinion. Meanwhile, curiosity got the better of me and I tried it in a planted nursery tank. By golly, two doses later, all the hair algae is gone! No noticeable side-effects on fish or plants. Most of the green dust algae is still present, which I actually like. So what has your experience been? And is there any reason not to use it for occasional hair algae suppression? Other than algae, is it detremental to any plant or animal species? I'm especially concerned about my valisnaria, as I accidentally killed off a bunch with a hydrogen peroxide treatment earlier this year. And I don't want to accidentally harm my fish. TIA!
  6. Ive got a crypt spiralis in my 20 gallon tank that is covered in Staghorn Algae. Does anyone know how i can get rid of this algae problem?
