  1. I like it, looks very natural.
  2. Very nice work, I really like the the pond placement in the box!
  3. Wow, thanks for sharing everyone! Goes to show you there's beauty everywhere, whether it's in your aquarium, your yard or somewhere in the great outdoors. The images everyone shared are awesome!! We haven't got out in the mountains yet this year, but we live in farm country so we have plenty of flora and fauna in the yard. This is some of the stuff that has wandered through the property in past 4 or 5 years... The quail family.. so polite.. babies are very cute! The hummers in back yard Turkey in our willow tree On of the wife's roses in front yard Surprise visitor in the shop, a bullsnake. I left the door open to cool down the shop, gets over 90 in there in summer. He was not happy about me moving him outside. He was about 6 feet all stretched out. I left him out by some gopher holes .. didn't phase them the least. Young Hawk, he hopped around out by our grapevines trying to pick up sticks. Then he flew over and hung out watching our chickens. They were bigger than he was and not too concerned. One positive thing about Covid, is it allowed me to work from home and see this kind of stuff almost every day.
  4. I have ordered from aquatic arts a few times. always had good results with the fish. Shipping is expensive, but they don't use post office, so your fish don't sit at office or in your mail box for a few days... Aqua Huna uses the post office, but they are very fast to take care of any DOAs or issues with an order.
  5. Rasboras? They seem less delicate than tetras and are less nippy. Maybe hillstream loaches? Long tank like that might make a cool high flow tank...
  6. Good to hear, thanks for the feedback! I've wanted cories for a while, and both my wife and I are getting old enough where it's nice to have a fish that easy to watch without having our noses pressed to the glass 🙂
  7. wow, very nice fish room. 33 is not a size i see often. Was it custom made, or an online order thing?
  8. Awww, bumme!. That's my fear, since they are teenagers and were all in same tank I'm hoping for a peaceful trio.. Not sure if I'm being too optimistic... Was also considering gold laser cories. Anyone have experience with those and angels?
  9. Coming along quite nicely! I like the clean lines of those nano tanks but I think I've maxed out my tank count with this last rescape and subsequent increase in tens gallon tanks as a result 🙂
  10. heh, gotta love a sense of humor! A cart makes things so much better. I use an old food service cart that is big and sturdy enough to haul around a 5 fallon tote and all my "stuff" for water changes. Beats the heck out of hauling buckets around, and it stainless steel so spills are no big deal.
  11. Congratulations!! oooooo, nice stable temps, cement floors, lots of room . I too will keep an eye on this journal. How exciting and daunting at the same time I'm sure :)
  12. Bladder snails are almost bullet proof (unless they run out of food). although some see them as pests I have seen some pretty beautiful shell patterns on the ones in my tank. Also when smaller, ramshorn snails can look kind of like bladders and they definiely can have red body or "feet"....
  13. Could try temporary heavy nitrate eating plants, maybe some floaters, not sure what can tolerate 80+ temps though.. sorry.. really sorry about your fish 😞
  14. Mystery snails are voracious feeders, the bigger they get the more they need to eat (and it's a lot). I love them, but don't keep them as algae control. They work better at getting food the fish might not get. I found they need more than leftovers however, all the suggestions about veggies and repashy, etc., are right on the mark.
  15. Pothos sucks up nutrients like crazy. Great for combating algae, but can starve out some of the other plants. Pothos is pretty tough however, you could trim it way down. Take half of it out of the filter and put it back in a pot. Now you have another house plant 🙂 My wife has a monster philodendron (not sure what variety. it has leaves bigger than my hand. The benefit of having it in there and reducing excess nutrients is huge. She's thinking of cutting it back some because it's fighting for nutrients from the water lettuce and jungle val... It's all about balance...
  16. very nice! gonna put a small tub pond on back porch once I get a little shade gazebo built for it.
  17. Koi angels. Someone in my area successfully bred them and these are the babies, although they are already 4+ inches. I havent had angels in over 20 years,so I'm excited!
  18. Tore down my 55 to get ready for angels I am getting this weekend. I hauled probably 80 pounds or more of rock and at least 100 pounds of eco-complete out of there. Got black sand in there now and more room for the fish. Moved the 20 to new area and rescaped it as well as removing the eco-complete Before Empty: the new ten gallon below the "angel" tank is gonna be for daphnia Ready for angels, gotta scrounge up a nice piece of driftwood too and really add plant density. That tank to the left of the 55 has a new batch of baby cpds and my experimental green neo colony. 20 gallon now is chilies only. Now they are out and about, instead of hiding in the corner of the 55. Bottom is cycling and will be the remnants of my blue dream colony, and the remainder of my tuxedo guppies, Most went to LFS for trade on the angels, along with my male dwarf gouramis. Lots of plant regrowth to happen, but I'm really glad the chilies got their own tank. I'm re-establishing my yellow shrimp colony in there with them.
  19. welcome to the forum and as other have stated, Nice aquascape!
  20. As everyone has already posted - In a 5 gallon your water volume is so low you need fish with a small bio load. Anything bigger than pygmy corys or a few otos, will leave little room for error on water parameters if they start to go south. especially with only bi-weekly water changes. CPDs are small and can tolerate lower temps as can white clouds. Plants that consume a lot of nitrates will help.
  21. It's a male, his anal fin is modified (gonopodium).
  22. We have added bettas to an established shrimp tank (10 gallon). The male dwarf gourami we had in there temporarily did more damage to the shrimp population than either of the bettas. One thing that I've done is added a rock pile for the shrimp. They can go in there if they feel threatened and when they molt. Full credit for that idea goes to Lucas Bretz, and watching his videos.
  23. wow, that's huge! I think they use those at the entrance in Walmart :). Every time I go in there I feel like I walked behind a Boeing during takeoff...
  24. Very cool, I love otos! Thanks for sharing your accidental breeding project 🙂
  25. Got a nice 30 inch piece of driftwood. Which pushed me to finally get rid of most of the eco-complete in the 75. wow what a chore. took out almost all the rock work and substrate with fish and shrimp in there. Removed the glolight danios at night after all the hardscape was out. Much easier to catch, especially when they are groggy. Now there's more open swimming room, much easier to plant and the shrimp love it.
