I plan on using a medium one on my next build. It fits easily. I like the medium size because the bulkhead strainer fits completely within the medium size, taking advantage of the entire sponge.

The second picture is some kind of Halfbeak I believe.

I'd replace the kitchen faucet with one you can attach to. Lose the soap dispenser and add a spray nozzle there.

At auto parts stores they sell large metal pans, to be used when changing oil so you don't make a mess. I used them when painting as to not make a mess, should work here too.

At my convenience, no particular time. I don't think the fish mind either way.

Would shrimp escape from a rimless aquarium?
MickS77 replied to Patrick M. Bodega Aquatics's topic in General Discussion
I've had shrimp get out of a tank with a glass lid on it. Presumably through the opening where airlines and a power cord come in. I assume they crawled up and out. My solution was to stuff some filter floss in the opening.- 10 replies

I use these ones, they fit in easy. Takes a little bit of trial and error to dial in the correct temperature.

Cycling a tank with established sponge filters
MickS77 replied to Justin Campbell's topic in General Discussion
This is what I would do in your situation, just feed lightly until it looks like everything is holding steady. I've never done a cycle with ammonia additives, not sure when that became a thing haha.- 9 replies

Dermosporidia/Dermocystidium, not really a lot of information about it or known treatments.
-
I bought my set originally to separate eco-complete substrate from sand I had in a previous tank.
-
A bubble on a Cardinal Tetra sounds like Dermosporidia/Dermocystidium to me. Not a lot of information out there on treatments. A picture of the fish would be helpful.

When I had trouble dissolving fenbendazole in water I used a magnetic stirrer. I just let it run for a while. That worked really good, no work involved.

Throwback Thursday - show us old photos of your tanks
MickS77 replied to Daniel's topic in Photos, Videos & Journals
My first tank with an Oscar & Firemouth Cichlids as well, 2012 I think. Fake silk plants and mixed sand substrate. Oscar outgrew the tank and went back to the store. I bought this tank when my parents were out of town 😆 easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.- 36 replies

I had something like this showing on one my mollies. I hit the tank with general cure, erythromycin, and salt. Cleared up in a few days. Been fine since.
