  1. I currently have about 7, 1 inch bristlenose plecos. I bought them as juveniles and am growing them out to see which are males and females
  2. Ammonia: 0 Nitrite: 0 Nitrate: 30, I am thinking about getting bloody marys or blue dreams. I have java fern, amazon sword, and some moss as plants. Right now, I do 50% percent water changes weekly and this is just the bristlenose plecos. So is it ok to continue doing 50% water changes or should I do something different?
  3. Hi everybody! I have a 20 gallon tank and had some bristlenose plecos in it. I was wondering how much water I should change if I had shrimp. I have heard that shrimp like small water changes but these bristlenose plecos are poop machines! Does anyone have experience with this combo? How much water should I change and how often should I change water? I want to try to breed both of them and keep both species happy. Thank you
  4. Does the kit come along with the levamisole or will it only come with those items?
  5. Hi everybody, I have been observing my bristlenose plecos and recently found that they had some red worms sticking out of their anus's. It is kind of disturbing and I was wondering if it is still possible to save them. I know that levamisole will help but I don't know where to get it. What are the best medications to deal with it. Also, will things like general cure or something else work? I am trying to cure it ASAP but I don't know what will work. ANy help is appreciated. Thank you
  6. The anubias might die off or have a hard time growing if it's rhizome/roots are put in the roots. Try to attach the anubias to some wood or decorations. Having gravel on its rhizome will cause it to rot
  7. Guppies would definitely do great! I would try some water hyacinth or water lettuce instead of duckweed. I don't think any salt or buffering agents would be needed. If your water is soft, definitely try adding some crushed coral. The guppies would produce even without the green water. As long as you feed everything really well, you should have babies in no time.
  8. You could definitely try quikrete all-purpose sand. Honestly, anything works as long as its not super fine like play sand. If you're going to do a sand setup, I would definitely recommend some root tabs. That will really help the plants establish faster and healthier.
  9. I'm pretty sure this range is acceptable. White cloud minnows are really hardy. You could definitely dilute the water if you wanted to. As long as your keeping your fish healthy by doing water changes and feeding them well, they should be fine
  10. Algae pearling is pretty normal. It doesn't require much to be healthy so if its pearling, its normal
  11. Hydrocoytle Tripartita is a pretty easy plant. I'm pretty sure that angelfish and gouramis wouldn't bother it. I would try to plant it first, although many people leave it on things like wood and rocks, I think that you should try to establish a good root system first. Once it has a good root system, you can try all sorts of things with it.
  12. If you wanted your java moss to cover the wood, I would definitely try tying it down. Also, Try trimming it very often whenever it starts to grow upwards. This will promote horizontal growth.
  13. Normally, the powered gravel vacs don't tend to work in my experience. They will definitely suck up water but a regular siphon should work just fine. Just hover your hose above the sand, that should really help get any debris off the sand.
  14. I'm pretty sure that everything should be fine. I have a very similar combination as well and it plays out really well. I don't think that the corys would be a threat to the shrimp. If the betta has gotten along with the shrimp, you should have no problem with adding 3 corys. Try to get some more plants or cover too, I'm sure that the shrimp would appreciate a little more cover. It's not necessary but it would most likely be appreciated by all the fish and shrimp in the tank.
  15. Crinums are heavy root feeders. By the look of it, it doesn't look like your crinum is buried all the way into the substrate. I would definitely try some root tabs and higher light. Also, try to add some flow into the tank, crinums love having some flow on their leaves, that might help.
  16. I'm pretty sure those are some kind of trumpet snail. They are actually quite beneficial to the tank. Beautiful tank!
  17. I think that it usually takes a couple of weeks for fertilizers to actually start doing anything. In my experience, it takes about 3 weeks to start noticing any affects. It different for many people but it mainly depends on what plants and how much you are dosing.
  18. I think that you can modify it but I would leave the cycled media inside the tank for about a week anyways. You could leave the cycled media inside the tank and modify your filter. The bacteria will eventually colonize on the new media and then you can take out the old cycled media.
  19. I think that adding more would definitely make them be a little more active, although oto's are usually very inactive in my experience. Maybe trying putting in an algae wafer or a slice of cucumber or zucchini.
  20. I have found that having shrimp with egg layers is usually ok. The shrimp seem to keep any fungus growth off the eggs.
  21. I think that dosing easy green should be good enough. Ludgiwia is a fairly easy plant to care for so it shouldn't matter, as long as you dose often and have good lights, they should maintain a red color
  22. My ricefish lay eggs all the time, I've noticed that some of the eggs will not be fertilized though. The eggs will be like cory eggs where the unfertilized ones will be a full white while the fertilized ones will be clearish or clearish yellow. You could try to put the eggs in a small plastic container and put a small airstone in it. The ricefish will probably eat the fry and eggs but if you have hiding spots, the fry and eggs should be fine
  23. I think you should check your water parameters. I haven't heard of a java fern completely dying away just from being moved. I think that your java fern might've just melted. Either way, check your water parameters and try to fertilize them/
  24. I think that you should be fine. The dwarf lillies might choke out everything else though. The dwarf lillies will seem to be big in you nano tank, especially 3-4 of them. I would try to do maybe 1 or 2 at most. The dwarf lillies will take care of most of the debris and waste along with the crypts.
  25. You could try assasin snails, they are usually too big for pea puffers and they'll eat the hydra most of the time. If not, you could always try dog dewormer.
