Dune 2021 - Anyone Looking Forward to This?
Streetwise replied to Fish Folk's topic in Off Topic General
I can’t wait to see it. I remember watching the six-hour laserdisc version, or whatever it was, in 1993 or 1994. It was quite the deep dive into Dune. Blade Runner is my most influential movie. I read books and wrote college papers about the production. I try to only watch it occasionally so that it remains fresh. 2049 was a nice surprise as a sequel. -
@Guppysnail, I show the flow options in the thread, and you should be able to cut coarse sponge to fit. I downsized the Aquaclear foam since that thread was last updated. It also fits Co-Op pre-filter sponges. You can also see it in my Indoor journal.

@Zenzo, have you seen the Dymax Slimflo filters? I love my SF-500 units. They don’t auto-drain, self-prime, have rugged plastic, adjustments for rim width, and fit a couple sizes of Aquaclear sponges. The symmetry was very important to my aesthetics. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KMKWCZJ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_imm_K6G540N9VDPDBES7H7KB?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 Tested and documented in that thread.

As a kid, I threw a ping pong ball into a goldfish bowl at the Champlain Valley Fair. I also grew up around woods and water, and always felt a connection to nature. I did freshwater with plastic plants as a youth, marine in college and again as an adult, and now organic soil aquariums.

Stupidity of filter cleaning/air stone issue

Sometimes the easiest solution is to just cut off the end of the tubing. Some tubing is better-optimized for aquariums and lights. -

Window light is very specific to location, direction, and shade. You can diffuse it with speaker grills, foam, paper, plastic, vinyl, etc.- 294 replies

Fluval Plant 3.0 Scheduling and Programming
Streetwise replied to Streetwise's topic in Community Resources
Light and sound are very interesting topics. Physics is one thing, and perception is another. I have a one-hour night phase on one tank per room, where I run blue. Anything more than 1% is not relaxing. Blue grows plants, but grows algae faster, so I limit my use.- 371 replies

Any invention tell if canister filter is on?
Streetwise replied to Maximus297759's topic in General Discussion
An Apex Neptune could monitor water or power and send an alert based on various conditions. Pricey, but cheaper than a leak or property damage. My leak detection kit has provided nice peace-of-mind. -
I feel this. Best wishes!

@Burbotlips, you should be able to look up state information for invasive species in your local bodies of water. If you haven’t seen them before, I have a video that shows them: This is on Lake Champlain, which connects to the Hudson to the south and the Richelieu to the north, and the Great Lakes from there, and with the Atlantic from both directions.

My sources of mulm include organic soil, fish waste, and decomposing wood, which is chewed on by various inhabitants. I stage water and floating plants that I remove, and squeeze out sponge filters, all to save snails and shrimp fry. I just can't pour out the mulm, when it is so full of aquatic life and nutrients.

I had to de-tune the air-stones, and lower the water levels. Two of these just have mulm for substrate.
