  1. While it may seem counter intuitive the smaller 20h will force the spawn closer to the parents and make it easier for them to corral.
  2. Those fish look really cool. This is unrelated but I am curious about your motion pictures or gifs. Is there a service that does that or is it a cell phone feature.
  3. I would put them in the shrimp tank but thats me, I dont keep any fancy shrimp so not sure of the consequences. I have some in bare tanks and some in planted tanks, some in breeder setups. the biggest and healthiest ones are always the ones that free roam in the planted tanks.
  4. Im not sure how many fry you have but you can always test 1 first to see how the fish react. If this is an unacceptable option to you I recommend keeping them in the box or a separate tank until they are at least the size of the smallest fish currently in the tank where the angel lives. I put several of my cory fry in my bare bottom tanks to stir up the bottom. one of my angel pair tanks they were instantly eaten. never made it to the bottom.
  5. As long as they are big enough not to be eaten
  6. Cool project and write up. Thanks for taking time to post. What table saw do you use? My dewalt can't take a dado so I have to do multiple passes or use a router.
  7. I think where this stand shines is in its ability to use tiered tanks of different depths/lengths. I watched his video from the thumbnail and was surprised when he didn't orient the tanks as I saw them in my head. I would use the differerence in size as open tank service area. Imagine the bottom with some 40B 36" on end. The next shelf with 20H 24" on end. The top shelf with a 55G or any other 13" deep in conventional orientation
  8. Installing a sheet of plywood across the entire back wall of the stand will remove the racking concern you described and increase the strength of the stand.
  9. I have attached a really cool angelfish genetics calculator. It's an interesting tool for figuring out the odds of certain offspring. It's also useful for learning what genes make up the common names or varieties . http://www.angelfishbreeder.com/ Works best on desktop vs mobile. There is more refined mobile one on a different site but they sell aquarium stuff so they got left out 🤐
  10. Are you able to cut wood? They sell project panel sizes that are 2x4. Can be trimmed to the size of the shelf needed. You can use the dewalt insert as a template. May be the cheapest option if doing just one shelf. https://www.lowes.com/pd/3-4-in-Lauan-Plywood-Application-as-2-x-4/1000068905 I use spar urethane or polyurethane to seal.
  11. They are still around and are cool fish. welcome back to the hobby after a long break
  12. the OG neons and angels planted setup always looked good to me although not a good fit for 10gal
  13. Thanks. The next thing I have to fine tune is how many gallons in equals true gallons changed. I attached a picture of my sprinkler timers app. I thought it was pretty cool.
  14. supplyhouse was the only place I could find a 1/4" quick connect 0.5gpm and 1gpm flow restrictor. I planned on buying one but found in testing with a flow meter the valve works fine. all my filtration and 1/4" line restricts the flow to about 1gpm without it. I use a flow meter to track gallons used as well as setting gpm. My solenoids are 24vACfor use with sprinkler controllers(I use the bhyve 12 zone indoor/outdoor wifi). I have since expanded the picture above to 12 valves. Its setup that only one zone/solenoid is flowing at a time. I attatched a picture of the flow meter I use. Its 1/4" quick connect.
  15. i have pretty much the exact same manifold you have pictured. the only difference is solenoid valves where your valves are and I restrict the entire manifold with 1 of your pictured valves at the supply line in post filtration.
  16. each horizontal metal beam subtracts 2.5-3.5" depending on the manufacturer and if you are putting any wood on it. when trying to figure out spacing I usually try to have no less than 6-7" but you can prob get away with less with shallow tanks, and will likely need more if using deeper tanks.
  17. it spreads out the load and increases the strength
  18. You have to add up all the lights you plan to add (load) and see if the power supply can handle it. This is assuming the lights also match/run on the voltage it supplies.
  19. That I don't know. But the yoyos were fun to watch in my 125 hunting the snails. I don't mind the trumpets they look cool and stir up the substrate.
  20. Husky Heavy Duty Industrial Welded Steel Garage Shelving Unit (i-beam) In store. Red or black. 77 x 72 x 24 or 90 x 90 x 24 home Depot doesn't make it obvious but there are two different racks that look the same one is rated for 1500 per shelf the other 2250. The i-beam model is newer and the better choice of the two. I recommend putting plywood decking across all the beams at half inch or thicker. The usable space is around 5" less than the dimension they sell the shelf as so a 77" wide rack would have a usable space of about 72" between the legs.
