  1. Mine eat everything. But really like the slow sinking xtreme
  2. Looks good. What is the plan for water in. Automatic, semi-automatic?
  3. The left over salt water will be fouled. It sounds like you need stronger airflow and/or a tube that reaches all the way to the bottom of the hatchery cone. I use 2 ziss blenders. For small batches I do 1 liter 1 table spoon salt and 1/2 teaspoon eggs. I harvest and rinse using a 120 micron sieve. I do not put the hatchery water in my tanks. I recently changed over to water softener salt pellets with no negative effects. 8 bucks for 50 pounds!
  4. Its a tricky one, most likely it is fine. I would try to make sure that is sitting in its original position and not putting stress on the glass mid span
  5. I will likely attend the Orlando event as it's about 2hrs drive from me.
  6. I think the closest thing would be this forum, which you are already a part of, and the youtube "membership" program.
  7. I was amazed at how silent the air pump is. To me its the best feature. There is a smaller linear pump but its nearly the same price and not available by the coop. Since the idea is to replace all pumps with 1 central pump I would rather have too much than not enough. I used 3/4" pvc in a small loop. It is connected to the pump with 3/4" reinforced vinyl tubing and a pvc/barb adapter. https://www.lowes.com/pd/LASCO-3-4-in-x-3-4-in-x-3-4-in-dia-Adapter-PVC-Fitting/3380750 I would prob use 1" if I had to do it again, not so much for the volume increase but flatter walls for tapping the air valves. I have some bleed off in the form of unused air lines tubing running behind my rack. In my opinion it was not needed but its a convenient dual purpose feature when they are not running a ziss fry box or an egg tumbler. The mattenfilters pretty much run wide open and definitely use some air.
  8. I believe the ones pictured are either discontinued or out of stock forever. When I built mine I used the same valves as my central air manifold. They were available local to me. I think the metal ones the coop sells are what people are using as a substitute.
  9. I have a similar setup. 1* 125g, 1* 38g, 3* 40b, 3* 20h, 3* 10g, 2* bbs hatchers. I use mattenfilters and sponge in all tanks. I use the same linear pump as the one sold by the coop. I think it will work great for your application.
  10. It would be possible to use a sprinkler controller and setup zones. You would need the pump to be triggered by a relay controlled by the timer. It would turn the pump on prior to the zones.
  11. When I built a similar design I used an ecoplus 290. I made the manifold from 3/4 pvc. Since I didn't want to massively restrict the pump I made it return back to the tank at the end of run. I drilled a 5/16 hole in the center of a pvc cap that sat below the water line. I had a big jehmco prefilter on the pump intake. It would turn the main tank/reservoir over several times per hour and kept the bottom clean while still letting me trickle water into the trays.
  12. Good growth. Always exciting when the fry take the angel shape.
  13. You can run an air line hose down behind the tanks to quiet the bleed if needed. They make a 26 linear but it's nearly the same price as the 45. The pump the co op offers would work great for your application
  14. Cool tanks. I keep multifasciatus and caudopunctatus in similar setups. Mine are 40 breeders.
  15. I ended up buying a chest freezer. I keep the bulk of the frozen foods I eat in there while storing smaller stuff and frozen fish food in my main freezer that's part of my refrigerator.
  16. I got a deal on a scaleblaster 75 on clearance. They are said to remove scale and hard water deposits and I do believe they can. My questions are 1. Is anyone on the forum keeping and filling tanks with one in use on your tap water. 2. Since it alters the adhesive properties of things in the water I worry that it will hinder beneficial bacteria inhabiting biofilms. The tanks it would be used are auto water change on hard city tap with chloramines. I use mattenfilters and sponge filters on all of them. My main complaint is airstone clogging and scale on my glass lids. I do think the scaleblaster can help with this but at what cost? Thanks for your time. -s1
