I have been trying with a pair of these but my eggs repeatedly funguses in peat. So I tried this method with a paper towel and blue juice and I am not optimistic. I was thinking 1 drop in 500ml as a starting point for storing them in. Any comments or advice available?
So far I have bread, Ram, Angels, Annual Killifish, Rainbow and of course Guppies. Currently working on Apistos and Axolotls and just set up a tank for Discus. What would be some other good fish to try breeding?
I am using some 1 quart canning jars. The ones that have a 2 part lid with very shear cloth. I tried some of my vinegar eels in these and I think I am getting a better yield. I think it's because it has more surface area and air exchange than the bottles I was using.
I have a few more questions.
How often do you start new cultures at a minimum? Do you start one every week, every 2 weeks, ect?
How long do they generally last?
What is the ideal time to feed (Max Yield)?
Is there anything else I need to know that I have not asked?
What is this? From a face book post, permission was granted to reach out for answers: As posted; It's growing off a nirate snail. Nothing kills it. And it's hard! It is a snail. Size of a quarter. We have treated the tank with parasite and fungal stuff as well as algae. He moves around well, eats and has grown. We have cut them off but they grow back.
I seen 2 similar videos on YouTube for this method. What is Room Temp for you. I am on the gulf coast so 80+ degrees is normal for my fish room. I will experiment after/if I get the culture going but I would like to remove as many variables as possible to get started. Thanks for sharing your experience.
