  1. Oh yeah sorry, as was typing new replies came in and I did not read them before I posted.
  2. I would mainly be worried if the water is not 75* or so. That would be worse. If the white thing grows into a tumor then I have had that before. If is a genetic thing I think, and the bettas can live with it unless it covers something important like a gill or something. But it could also be fish tb and they make tumors as well and those can transfer to humans. I recommend you research that.
  3. This is not on topic, but I was wondering if you are planning to deworm them, because it looks like they both have a bit of a sunken stomach?
  4. I would say 1000 gallons. I know that is not really realistic, but that would be best. I have a koi in my 600 gallon pond, but once it gets really big I plan to put it in a public koi pond.
  5. I have some mosquito fish fry in my 1-2 gallon that I am growing out. I have lots if plants in there and they are fine. My smaller tanks I have snails and lots of plants.
  6. Flukes on the skin I dont think you can see them with your eyes. I don't know though. Salt would take care of it but it would take a longer time because they are bigger then bacteria or something. Paracleanse would be better.
  7. Could be flukes because of the twithing.
  8. The flaring is normal, but too much can stress them out. Try taping black paper to the sides of the tank you can afford to not see through. That may help. Your fish sounds alright, but you don't want to freak them out with to much reflection on the glass.
  9. I don't think there are specific foods for them, I would say the best thing would be to get a high quality staple such as a flake food or something, and then every few days feed them a good frozen food variety pack. You know something with different types of frozen food in there. If you do this for most fish it would be all good, however some fish do have really specific diets.
  10. Yeah, I know the chances are unlikely to meet you, I heard you say in a live stream. Oh well, I will keep keep my fingers crossed and hope that my dreams are a sign. LOL
  11. Hey everyone, I have had 2 dreams so far including last nights where I met Cory. In my dream I was at a petco and Cory was working there, and then when he came over to help me I recognized him. Since I plan to to visit the co-op in the middle of June I was wondering what are the times I am most likely to run into you at the store @Cory? Thank You so so so so much!!!
  12. I just had a new crazy thing that happened. I have collected some water hyacinths from a parks pond. I had them growing in buckets before I put them in my pond. I was moving out the hyacinths when I dumped out the water and found a crawdad flopping on the ground. I put it in one of my q-tanks. I was amazed to find it there but then figured it must have been on the roots of the water hyacinths and survived in barely a gallon of water for a month with no food. I am so surprised that just happened. I really want to keep him but don't have a long term home for him. 😞
  13. Yes, "pest" snails can be come a problem is some people's eyes. The can breed a lot, but I only dont like them because they eat my hillstream loach eggs. I think culling and killing snails is a very cruel thing. I mean to think that we have the right to kill innocent lives just because we don't like the look of them is messed up. If you are feeding them to something else like a puffer, then I think that is okay, because it is feeding another animal. What I do is put them in my ponds, but if you don't have ponds maybe you could set up something like a summer tub, 🙂 . Plus snails are very helpful and good cleaners.
  14. You know you are a true nerm when you have to take 5 minutes to see if one of your heaters is plugged in.

  16. This summer my family wants to do a road trip, because it is sort of the safest thing we can do in these times. We will be passing through Washington near the store! I am really excited, because I have listened to the podcasts and watched their youtube channel for years! I would listen to the podcasts while doing hours of weed wacking. LOL. Anyways I was wondering if there was anything else I should try and visit while I am there? Thanks everyone!
  17. I would say a coarse sponge filter with a power head will be best.
  18. The vicious dojo loach!!!
  19. I know it is not the right size, but serpadesign does this sort of thing a lot. He builds lots of tanks from random pieces of glass. Maybe this video could give you some ideas. Probably he has made bigger tanks, if you search his channel you could probably find him making a bigger tank.
  20. Now this is when you know you are watching and researching enough fish related things.
  21. SWilson is correct. The first pic is planaria while the second is the detritus worms.
  22. I also just put tape under the faucet and I am waiting for someone to wash there hands. Hope the people in my house have good hygiene. LOL!
  23. I taped a tack to the door frame, and taped a balloon to that door. When my mom opened it it popped and she got so scared!
