  1. Note: I am not trying to start a political discussion in this thread. Recent events that may be considered political have raised a concern of mine and I will be mentioning them but I am not looking to directly discuss them. Pre-election, some wrongful censorship was taking place on twitter/facebook/youtube ect. Now Google removed Parler from their app store and Amazon kicked them from their web servers and similar censorship issues are happening with the other big tech companies. I've never liked it but it is getting egregious enough to make me consider directing my dollars away from these companies, which would sadly include youtube, if things continue in this direction. I'm happy to be a Co-op member, I believe Cory does right by his members by reinvesting into the hobby and I like the gems hidden in the member videos now and then, I.E. behind the scenes looks into farms and skilled breeder setups. I am not about to pull the plug on youtube yet but if over the next year things keep marching this way I may be compelled to. In this case I can still support the Co-op through the store but I would lose access to member content which I would miss. My questions are... 1) To other members, are any of you also having this concern? 2) To Cory, under these circumstances would you reconsider making member content and support available through other means in the future? Thanks again
  2. Hello! I recently purchased a membership to Aquarium Co-Op and I love it. I would like to know how to access all the videos. In the membership page, it has a link to member videos (the first attached pic) however, Cory just uploaded his #6 fish room update and the members video link isn't updating his recent upload. In fact, there is only two fish room updates, so I was surprised he uploaded a sixth update today. Where can I find all the member videos? Thank you for your help! Erik
  3. Me on YouTube: β€œAll the fish in this community tank get along GREAT!” Threadfin Acara: β€œπŸŸπŸ’β€ Me the next day: β€œNow where are those tetras?” Experienced Aquarist: πŸ˜‚ β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€” πŸ§™β€β™‚οΈβ€œ... if it can fit in the mouth, it will eventually go there!”
  4. Hello my fellow aquarists, I've been keeping fish for almost 15 years now. Nothing to exciting going on: planted tank with kissing fish, chery shrimp, cardinals, corydoras. Yet I love them to death. I have the feeling my kissing fish observe everything I do in my room with their huge eyes, they know when it's feeding time beforehand just by watching my movements. I don't think they are all that dumb. What I wanted to share with you today is the following question: how do you view your fish? As in how sentient do you think they are? I've recently begon an new adventure on youtube exploring science, archaeology and nature. The second topic I discussed is precisely this, the way we view nature. In this video I discussed the book "What a Fish knows by Jonathan Balcombe" Also I gave a huge shoutout to Cory and Murphy! I love your channel Cory, and your vision on how to ethically keep fish, too bad I live across the ocean and I can't fly to your shop any time soon. Anyways I was wondering If any of you has read this book and if we could start a discussion about it (will post in different forum).
  5. I've noticed an alarming trend of Aquarium Co-op's youtube channel not enabling subtitles for their last 3 uploaded videos as well as the spooktacular livestream. I'm severely hearing impaired and I do mean severely. I require subtitles to enjoy and understand content. I'm a huge, HUGE fan of Aquarium Co-op but I have not been able to enjoy their youtube content lately. Many other youtube channels as well as fishtubers have consistently continued enabling subtitles, even after youtube axing crowdsourced captioning (In the middle of deaf awareness week too) Friends of mine with youtube channels have explained that it is quite simple, you check a box and youtube adds subtitles for you. Maybe they are wrong and it's far more difficult than that. The reason for this post is that I'm hoping someone can help me understand how the youtube subtitles work or maybe explain why Aquarium Co-op has stopped enabling them? Perhaps it was an overlooked mistake and maybe this post can help bring it to their attention? I hope I don't sound like a grumpy jerk, thanks for reading!
  6. I got started with fish keeping in 1995 when I was about 8 years old my parents bought me a 10 gallon tank and 4 guppies I ended up with about 100 in about a year. πŸ™‚ I learned a lot about water changes and the cycle of life. We moved when I was 9 and my tank didn't come with us so the hobby ended there...fast forward 22 years and I was given a 55 gallon tank and I bought 12 rainbow tetras and 4 guppies. I fell out of practice over the 22 years and forgot all about the nitrogen cycle. I went on YouTube and found Cory's peanut butter M&M video (nitrogen cycle) and I was hooked. I then spent the next month watching Aquarium coops channel. I'm coming up on 2 years STT and loving my hobby. I really like being able to create an ecosystem in my living room for each specific group of fish I keep. I'm about to conquer African Cichlids and Haps. I have a 75 gallon (This is going to be the Cichlids tank) and my son now has a 55 gallon (Community Tetra tank) This hobby has really taught me patience and how to just leave nature alone and let it do it's thing. Any tips or suggestions in my new Cichlids tank I will appreciate the input. Glad to call myself a NERM! πŸ™‚
  7. I'm watching the Halloween stream, and Dean needs a few props. What if Cory had a little rolling prop cart? How would you stock it? Battery power unit or UPS USB Nano Air Pump Airline Tubing Check Valve Never Clog Air Stone Coarse Sponge Filters Ziss Brine Shrimp Hatchery Ziss Premium Breeder Box Ziss Egg Tumbler Brine Shrimp Eggs Easy Planter @akconklin Live Aquarium Plant @akconklin What would you add? Maybe a tiny demo tank with some water? Food? Hardware? (Don't quote.)
  8. Who have you been enjoying lately or recently found on Youtube in regards to the aquarium hobby? Share below! Bonus imaginary points for upcoming Fishtubers πŸ™‚ Someone I have been enjoying that I recently found has been the The Guppy Guru. I found his channel about a month ago, and it looks like he has been around for about a year. So far his videos have been very positive, solid, and informational. Obviously, by his name, he seems to focus in on guppies a lot but not exclusively. He seems to produce content fairly regularly, so that's a plus. Here is a link to his channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCtGc0kZJKzwlqFSlOdUfCNw So all y'all fine folk πŸ™‚ Who have you been enjoying lately? And have you found any potential up and coming fishtube stars? Share below.
  9. I'd wager most here are subscribed, but I'd like to see the percentage of people who actually have their accounts subscribed to the youtube channel. Also if you are not, a comment on why may be helpful for us.
