  1. Yes!!! I am so excited. I got dafnia, blood worms or some sort, mosquito larva, and other crazy little water creatures.
  2. I am in school now, and we are talking about scientists trying to use CRISPR to take a gene from zebra danios that is regeriation, and put it in humans. I never knew this but zebra danios apparently can regrow any part of their bodies, like there heart even! I am not sure this article is about it, but I think it is. https://www.frontiersin.org/articles/10.3389/fcell.2017.00099/full
  3. Hey everyone, Can mystery snails live in cold water, like 40-90 degrees?
  4. I really like the brown one, the spots on the back remind me of something like a trout.
  5. Yeah, I have some and and am looking forward to befriending my new little friends.
  6. Speaking of dojo loaches I found a funny video about them that I already posted, but thought I would put it up again. It is just too funny, and it gets me everytime. You sort of have to have kept these fish before to get the joke however, because these fish are the kindest, calmest, and cutest fish ever.
  7. My neons have been doing that for years, I cant get them to stop. At first I thought they were just making a pecking order, but I think it is just their behavior. I think if you have more fish the less bad it is.
  8. Hey everyone, Something really cool just happened! I went on offerup and randomly searched dojo loach. I sort of have a ritual of doing that and usually nothing comes up. But today there was a 20 gallon planted tank with some fish, including two dojo loaches!!! Plus since my family doesn't really like my fish keeping hobby and have to drive me to get stuff because I don´t have a car I was very excited when they said they could pick them up this afternoon when they are in the area. It is just crazy to think this morning I had no idea I would have 2 new awesome fish by night time! I love when stuff like this lines up perfectly! Have a nice rest of your day everyone!!!
  9. Yeah something like this, if you don't trust your knowledge to piece it together you can buy a kit. https://www.amazon.com/AEO-Solar-Water-Pump-KIT/dp/B07NQZMWRD
  10. I think it should be fine, but it would be so much better with a solar powered pump. I use AEO solar water pumps. Just make sure the solar panel if makes the right amount of electricity and make sure you get a dc pump. You could also use a bilge pump.
  11. @CT_Thanks, the pond is 500 gallons and is just under 2 feet at the deepest point. It is in full sun however it will be covered in water lilies, maybe that will cool it, and is partly underground. I may just get another water pump and position it to add as much air as possible. Thanks everyone.
  12. Thank you! Do you have any recommendations of other ideas? I know plants stop making oxygen at night, but I was wondering if since temps lower at night and the water would probably get to about 50 or so degrees, if it would work out.
  13. Hey everyone, On my local fish club forum they sent out this warning. I just copied and pasted the posts. Here they are. Comment 1: Saw this on FB and am sharing it everywhere I can think of as Petco is a huge organization and we all ship things ourselves so even though this is in Oregon - it can SO EASILY be anywhere within a week! Please share this to any fish or tank keeping groups so folks can be on the look out and help prevent them from entering other waterways. It is my understanding that the larval stage they can be free swimming, so water changes could spread them:Coast Fork Willamette Watershed CouncilThere has been a troubling sighting report from Seattle. A pet store employee has been finding zebra mussels attached and inside moss balls sold as aquarium plants. The significant danger is these moss balls are being distributed across the U.S. We are asking that you please check out your local pet stores here in Oregon to see if they are selling “Betta Buddy” brand moss balls. Please contact Rick Boatner immediately (503-947-6308; Rick.J.Boatner@state.or.us) if you find any. Comment 2: So this has now been reported in purchases from Amazon and AquaricArts ... treat ALL marimo balls as if they were contaminated.PLEASE SHARE THIS TO ANY AND ALL TANK GROUPS OR FORUMS YOU ARE A MEMBER OF.
  14. Is your last pic of elm beetles? We have a tree that is infested with them. They are an invasive species. Last summer at a single point of time there were probably 500 beetles on our ceiling alone.
  15. Happy to hear that he is better now!
  16. I am looking fo a solar powered air pump for my 500 gallon goldfish pond. Any ideas, all the things I see are a bit two weak. Thanks.
  17. Yep, ocean aquarium is the place to learn from. Lots of plants, deep sand, and top offs. I have not done a water change in like forever!
