  1. Well, you could end up w/ a male nerite. Seems I picked 3 males because I've yet to see an egg.
  2. Water change for Geppetto today w/ the presteeped/premixed/dechlorinated tea water I made. The only issue w/ making it ahead it I can't control temp. I've been keeping it on top of the fridge so it's not too cold. It was like 73 or 74, and then tank is 78. But I noticed that the tank thermometer temp does not really move when I am changing just 20%. So I guess no worries. Kratos finished cleaning the back wall, and I put a little chunk of algae wafer in there for him. I hid it behind the sponge filter. Well, guess who squishes back there with a fair amount of wiggling and eats it? 🙄 (hint: not Kratos) I noticed biofilm on other surfaces though, so Kratos has some food. I could supplement with Bacter AE perhaps, if he cleans too efficiently, or I do have that small chunk of driftwood I boiled that I can add. I just hesitate because it has rough edges that might catch on Geppetto's fins. I notice Geppetto squeezes his way into some tight spots from time to time; places I wouldn't expect him to go. He's adventurous. Kratos is a poop machine. That previous picture I posted - I vac'd all that up and 24 hours later it was back to that state again. But hey, it's good for the plants and microfauna, and he is doing a good job washing the windows. And most importantly, he's compatible with Geppetto, who, as we know, has a history... which is how he came to live with me. I'm happy to have him. 🙂 We play the game every so often w/ the fish decoration. He's a feisty fella. Here he is "snuggling" with his catappa leaf. He finds some comfort in it, I think.
  3. Notice the seiryu stone fizzes. A lot of people use seiryu stone in their tanks. But what the fizz is indicating is that the rock can change water chemistry. While it probably won't have an immediate effect, over time it will leach something out into the water.
  4. If your pH is reading at 7.4 to 7.6, I would not recommend adding any crushed coral, as the crush coral raises pH. You are already in the correct range for your platies, corydoras, and blue dream shrimp. What is the pH of the new water going into the tank at water changes?
  5. Might I suggest pristella tetra? @Karen B. I've had these same fish for about 11 years.
  6. stick a chunk of coarse sponge in the uplift tube to prevent future incident.
  7. Some of the puffers, you have to trim their teeth periodically. Something to keep in mind w/ puffers.
  8. You’ll notice some photos of Snoopy are more colorful than others. I think the key to his colors is frozen foods.
  9. Ram journal in my signature line. His name is Snoopy (because he is nosey about everything I do like tank maintenance or taking pictures- he photobombs most of them). Lots of personality! He has a gold snail friend named Woodstock.
  10. Yeah they need territory. The trip was 16 hr or so. They weren’t having it.
  11. I guess that was Halloween candy? Somewhere I have a photo of when I went muddin’ on the 4 wheeler - after a heavy rain! Head to toe covered in mud, but it was so fun. Going through the puddles is like making 2 tsunamis. 🤣 I saw the yellow shrimpy in the photo! 😍
  12. Journal in my signature line. And here’s a little clip.
  13. Very cool test strip kit. Was there a card with the gH drop kit? I usually test gH with a strip; not familiar with how the drops work. Cant really read the pH # from the photo. What was the pH? I know mystery snails need at least a 7 pH. Nerites may require similar @onlywei
  14. @Jen P that’s pretty cool! I’ve heard people say they end up with brown shrimp when mixing colors of shrimp too. What temperature is the tank that the white wizard snail babies were born in?
