  1. This is Winslow. He is a 6 year old Shih Tzu. I’m currently watching him while my mom is out of town on vacation. He is not a fan of my fish tanks, and he also gets angry when I pay attention to them and not him. While doing a water change on my 75g earlier he kept trying to get into the shower to drink the old tank water.
  2. I am also in the market for some new heaters. Want to get an additional for my 75g and the one in my 29g doesn't keep my water warm enough.
  3. Do you have any seeded filter media you could add to the tank?
  4. Looks great. I keep looking for deals like the one you got on craigslist but haven't gotten that lucky.
  5. Did you see the video where Cory set up his tubs? If you go back and look he hung lights above the tubs and was having success with plants. Aquarium Co-OP Fish Room Tour
  6. I keep seeing tanks like these listed on facebook marketplace. One of these days I'll bite the bullet and pick one up.
  7. My 75g didn't have any lids when I got it. I looked at my LFS and they did not have any in stock. I went to lowes and they sold and cut the glass for me. I followed the directions in this video. For a handle to open the lid I cut a small piece of the track and super glued it on the front of each piece of glass. Video in link below DIY Glass Lids
  8. Thank you. I will be heading out tomorrow to try and pick up some of those. They also might have been picky since they had a stressful day of sitting in a bag for hours
  9. Definitely personal preference. Also which knife you choose depends on the task at hand. I really miss my knives. They're locked in the office at work. We have been closed since April 19th and I haven't been able to go back and get them. Nothing like $1500 in knives locked away that I could be using at home.
  10. Did a water change today on my 29g. Pulled more convict fry from the tank and put it in a breeder box. Attended a local clubs swap meet. Picked up a pair of golden rams and a midnight ram.
  11. The gray thing is the tray that holds the media in aquaclear filters. Its included with the aquaclear when you buy it. Makes it much easier to pull out whatever media you're using for cleaning/replacing.
  12. So I picked up a pair of golden rams today at a clubs swap meet. For those of you who keep rams what do you recommend to feed them? It was busy at the table when I bought them and completely forgot to ask the seller what he feeds his. The rams ate tonight but the only picked at the food. I fed them food that I had gotten from Imperial Tropicals that I feed my Mbuna’s. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  13. Great advice!! While I have never purchased from Chefknivestogo I have looked on the website a lot. I lucked out and got most of mine off eBay when people listed them wrong. Nothing like a $300 shun for $79. @Mychala Depending on your area if you're looking for a place where you can "test" them Sur La Table has knives and cutting boards that you can test out. They will typically have cutting boards set up. The one that was near me used to have carrots and other vegetables you could test it out on.
  14. While i don't have a 115 I made the stand for my 75g. I used 6 cinderblocks that I painted black. I stacked them on top of one another. My original plan was to use 2x10's directly on top of the cinderblocks but I did not like how they were not secure. On the bottom side of the 2x10's I used 2x6's that screwed into the bottom to hold it all together. If I were to do it again I would've used 2 more cinderblocks so the tank was a little taller.
  15. I also got the NICREW full spectrum for my 75g and I really like it. I had to return my first one through amazon because it kept turning on and off randomly. The second one works perfectly. I wanted to pick one up for my 20g but I got a good deal off of marketplace for another brand that I cant remember.
  16. I think the aquascaping ideas all depend on what you intend to stock it with. I would suggest a scape that goes with what the species environment is. For example if you had mbuna's lots of rocks to make caves for them to hide.
  17. This could either be classified as an achievement or stupidity. I purchased a 75g and a 20L off of craigslist used for a very good price. The tanks that I thought were going to be empty were not. The 75g had a red zebra cichlid and a convict cichlid. The 20L had another convict. The convict and the red zebra were not getting along so i threw the two convicts into the 29g at home that was cycling. I did not want either of these 3 fish but I wasn't going to let the previous owner flush them. 5 days later i completely understood why the previous owner had the convicts separated when I woke up to around 100 convict fry swimming in the tank. I am currently down to about 40 or so that are still swimming around. I guess you could say my achievement was when I noticed them doing the dance shortly after i quickly grabbed the male and separated him.
  18. Doing a water change 2 weeks ago. Instead of hooking the python to the sink I always put it in the shower. Got it going and normally check to make sure waters coming out. Didn’t check this time. Luckily I went into the bathroom 5 minutes later and quickly realized the end was not in the shower. Could have been a lot worse but now I check it constantly. Even if I close the shower door on it to hold it in place.
  19. I have been looking for one near me in central Florida. So far I have only been able to find one an hour and a half away. Going to check out there swap meet this weekend.
  20. Yes it started quickly. Just need to find a home for the convicts. They were in one of the used tanks I picked up along with another Cichlid that I have not been able to identify yet.
  21. Good evening. I am relatively new to the hobby and located in Central Florida. I got into the hobby when covid struck since I had a lot of time on my hands. Started with a 29g and quickly picked up a 75, 20L, and 10 off of craigslist. My 75 is my mbuna tank which currently has various juvenile size mbuna. The 29g has a female convict (2inch) and a bunch of fry. The male convict (2 1/2 inch)is in the 10g since I am overwhelmed with fry. The 20L has 2 assorted peacocks that are 1 3/4 in size. How quickly it went from one tank to four.
  22. My python wouldn't fit on any of the sinks in my house. I brought all of the pieces to local hardware stores and they had nothing in stock that would make it fit. After a lot of thinking, debating, and a lot of frustration I went and bought a utility faucet from Lowes. My bathroom has 2 sinks and i simply replaced the faucet on the sink that I didn't use to the utility faucet. It might not look the best but it worked for me. I think the new faucet cost me $19. If and when I decide to sell my house I will just put the old faucet back on.
