  1. With all the plants you mentioned, waiting is the best method. Your crypt will bounce back up in a few weeks, the Monte Carlo will grow with no issue like that, and the AR mini will take around 2 weeks to adjust. Nice selection of plants! Just fertilize routinely, and make no sudden changes, and all the plants will do fine!
  2. That might just give Cory and us taco lovers nightmares lol
  3. That's fascinating! Here in MD I've found some Ludwigias, and Didiplis Diandra, along with some other mosses (although the mosses struggled in my tank). Like you, I love collecting plants, @Daniel! I'd love to come down there one day and collect some banana plants of my own!
  4. Beat me to it! Lol your's is better anyway!
  5. This is a hard thing because it honestly depends on the individual turtles and the individual fish. Some turtles couldn't care less about other fish in the tank, and other see the as raining donuts. Some fish have the brains to run away from turtles, and some don't. Some fish that have worked for me are platies, endlers, zebra danios, and least killifish. You will notice that 75% of that list is made up of livebearers, because they proliferate a lot, and even if an occasional fish is eaten, there won't be a dent. If you have a place the turtles can't get to (such as a caged off area), some fish can live there as well without fear of being eaten. Hope that helps.
  6. Hi, I prefer the Etekcity ones (the yellow kind). They have been reliable for me. All I do is point it at the water, not through the glass (I do see a difference if I point through the glass) Any reasonable distance is fine, just be sure not to be too far away. They're fairly accurate too! Hope that helps, and let me know if I can help with anything else.
  7. Lol I can see how that's funny, but jokes set aside Canisters do have their place sometimes, even though we all hate them lol
  8. @T.C. 1) When the diatoms die off, your fish and the cherry shrimp, and the snails will all eat the algae. The rest will usually just goa away. 2) Adding more plants will certainly help, and in the long run will help you fight other algaes as well. Good Luck!
  9. LOL! That's me every time I hear water
  10. I don't know...I'd actually be pleased if this happens lol! But to each their own preference!
  11. I would let the parents keep trying. Eventually they get it right! If you don't want to, I would make sure that you have flow in the tank or container that has the eggs. If they are struggling after the wiggler stage, it is probably a lack of food. Maybe try feeding small foods, and often? Hope that helps
  12. Looks good! What is your favorite plant in that picture?
  13. Weeping moss grows downwards, and most floating plants send down roots. Hope that helps.
  14. Congratulations! That's a spike, and you'll see many more to come! from each nub, expect plantlets to emerge.
  15. Looks good! Glad you are enjoying the hobby! It is always a great idea to document your journey into any hobby.
  16. I can't tell exactly how bad it is from the picture, but some salt will help. Also, is that barb's mouth open permanently, or is that just the picture?
  17. I realize I've just made comment after comment, so I'm going to make a list to make things easier. You can also try to get: Ryo Watanabe, Flynn (this time talk to him about his maintenance business) Zenzo again, Preston John (The world needs more Preston John)
  18. Bob Steenfott would be a nice interviewee as well!
  19. You can interview Gerry from Aqua Huna and extract more knowledge from him! (your longer format podcast can have more content than the Co-Op's video, just because of time constraints and Youtube algorithms)
  20. Yes. There are many things you can use, such as plastic mats, rubber mats, or other waterproof material.
  21. That looks wonderful! Lol my fish also hide when the camera comes out. I guess they know their rights to privacy or something!
