  1. Behind the Scenes of Aquarium Coop's Warehouse Every Single Fish Tank at Aquarium Coop Top 5 Shrimp, Snails, & Crabs for your aquarium The Truth About Dechlorinators TEENY TINY Ideas for Your Nano Aquarium
  2. Hi, in terms of diet shrimp just need biofilm and algae, with a bit of calcium. Irene from Girl Talks Fish did a great video with her and her shrimp's favorite foods. I just feed Hikari Crab Cuisine every Friday (Best part of the week, watching a bunch of shrimp swarm around a pellet or two) and let them scavenge around the tank for various decaying matter, algae etc. Occasionally I'll give some Xtreme Krill Flakes for a bit of extra protein (since my betta randomly doesn't like them lol).
  3. Lol, my Fluval heater VERY much disapproves of this. Wait... This user has been temporarily banned for violating the following rule: & @quirkylemon103, as I understand it its not the product its Fluval having a hard time with their supply chains, so there've been issues keeping their products in stock.
  4. That's sad to hear, although the part about swimming with the neons was really cute! Probably when I still had a hollow piece of plastic decor, I hadn't noticed my betta for the past few hours, and was worried he'd jumped, so I moved the table next to the stand, and looked underneath furniture, until I decided to check behind the stand where I didn't find anything, but as I was moving the stand back into place my betta just swam out of the decor like I had woken him up lol (I probably had). I still have the decor on a shelf right now.
  5. Hi, I just noticed my silicone suffering from a lack of oxygen! Due to this I've decided to get an airstone. Now, I know the USB Nano Airpump works, however the more power the better right? That's why I'm hoping to get the "SpaceX Merlin 1D" rocket engine, yes I know that it isn't technically an air pump, but it still produces thrust. I would be planning on using the sea level variant, with a smaller nozzle, which according to SpaceX produces 7,607kn or thrust, or 1,710,000 lbf of force. My question is will be enough air being pushed through the air stone? Secondly will the exhaust from the fuel of liquid oxygen and what is very refined jet fuel be detrimental to the health of the tanks inhabitants? Thanks! APRIL FOOLS!!
  6. @Sandra the fish rookie Ohhh, my apologies, randomly I thought you weren't using the blue holder thing. Feel free to completely ignore my previous posts.
  7. @MJV Aquatics sorry, yeah, that will definitely happen sorry about that. @Sandra the fish rookie, sorry for the lack of explanation. Yeah, it's a top view. (Feel free to ignore too, someone else would probably have a better layout than me!)
  8. Hi, in my opinion you might want to delay it and do it slowly to let the bacteria colonies catch up. So maybe remove one in a few days, then wait a week, then remove on or two, then keep doing that until you're out of rings? I might also want to keep the rings somewhere else so that you still have a backup if things go south? I have no idea if my idea will work, or is overcomplicated, just my 2 cents.
  9. Hi, as far as I can tell it doesn't really matter how much it says on the package, Purigen seems to be pretty standard across sizes. The bag, and actual resin seems like a good spot for nitrifying bacteria to grow, so unless you need a LOT of biological filtration you might be able to not use as much, or non at all. I have a Quiet Flow right now, and I agree that the compartment is pretty small, maybe try doing something like this? I've done this configuration, just without the bio media. (In the picture it's ceramic rings, however you can probably use whatever you choose, feel free to ignore if you would like, this probably isn't the most efficient use of space) Key Red: Unusable space Brown: Purigen bag Orange: Sponge Grey: Biomedia
  10. I second what @Biotope Biologist said. Maybe another idea would be something like a honey gourami, or other well tempered labyrinth fish, like calmer bettas, or female powder blue gouramis? ACO made a list a bit ago if you want some other ideas! https://www.aquariumcoop.com/blogs/aquarium/top-5-gouramis
  11. I heard in an Aquapros video about an idea/speculation that aquatic plants, or marimo moss balls might become more tightly regulated. I hope someone can find a way to grow them quickly, when you don't want algae it grows explosively, when you want it to grow it can take 12 years to get a large size lol.
  12. Thx. He's acting different already, and isn't breathing as heavily! Thank you!
  13. Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean by treat the fins since he doesn't have any problems there?
  14. 5.5, I ended up putting the meds on a scrap of shipping paper from Aquarium Coop, and divided them in half. Is it normal for there to be small grains on the bottom? I've heard that chemicals in the water willl form bubbles on the surface, but never of grains settling to the bottom? I'll post any updates here!
  15. Thank you, not yet, I'm worried that netting him placing him in a hospital tank will be too much stress, with could do more harm then good. Right now I've noticed that he's being lethargic and breathing heavily so I want to rest him as much as possible before doing anything. Any feedback is still welcome!
  16. You could probably try getting IAL, or other sources of tannins, and maybe some water lettuce (If I'm identifying that plant in the video correctly.) If I understand the Wikipedia article on it correctly it's not native to the area, but does exist there. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pistia The khuli loaches would probably work, although it will probably depend on the personality of the betta.
  17. I don't really see a problem as @Tanked said apart from lighting it seems just like personal preference.
  18. Thanks, I think I would still want to keep the crushed coral in since gH, kh, and pH are a bit low for my comfort level especially since i have some neocaridina, and to rule that out as a possible reason for flashing.
  19. Hi, randomly I was wondering why our aquarium fish don't seem to contract viruses, or do they have symptoms similar to a parasite, fungi, or bacteria so we don't notice them and end up treating for those? Thanks!
  20. Hi, to me it just looks like she's full, although I would keep an eye on it if it lasts too long since she might be bloated/constipated. Also are her fins always flared out? If so she might be seeing her reflection?
  21. I'm not sure about what the store's procedures are. However I haven't, I have some Paracleanse and Maracyn on hand right now.
  22. Hi @Mmiller2001, I've had him since August, my ammonia is still at 0ppm.
  23. Hi, I love anubias nana petite glued to hardscape since it gives it a green pop, and adds a bit of life to hardscape. Maybe java fern in the midground, and some stem plants to fill in the back?
  24. Hi, they look like a ramshorn snail to me. If your being worried about them overpopulating they only populate to the amount of food in the tank. Cory has said in his top 5 Shrimp, Snails, and Crabs video that pest snails will populate to the food supply, so if there's enough food that 400 snails can live that's how many you're going to have. They tend to eat algae, and have the same behavior as most other snails. @H.K.Luterman has a tank of them and breeds them so they will probably be able to give better advice then me.
