5 juvenile Apistogramma nijsseni, Neon & Silvertip Tetras, Otto’s and Bronze Cory’s.
  2. I needed to get better flow in my 120. Since this tank is built into a wall my options were limited. I found the Marineland Magnum on sale on Amazon. It solved the flow issues and with it’s polishing insert all the small suspended material in the water column has been cleaned up. This unit even handled the filtration by itself when the impeller in my canister crapped out and I was waiting for a replacement.
  3. I recently bought a 40 breeder from Petco ($1 a gallon sale) along with the corresponding lid. When I set the tank up the lid doesn’t fit, it’s 1/2” too wide (front to back). I called the store I got everything from and they measured the rest of the 40 breeder lids and they were all the same size as the one I had. I called and emailed Aqueon about this and they tried to throw Petco under the bus saying that Petco was reboxing Tetra tanks as Aqueon. Then I read them the code on the bottom of the tank and then they admitted it was theirs. So it looks like with the added volume quality control has taken a back seat. I had to take the lid to a glass shop to have a 1/2” taken off one of the panels. Aqueon is sending me something for my trouble. So if you’re in the market for a similar setup I’d make sure everything fits before you leave the store. No need for surprise when you get home.
  4. I’ve used both Krylon & Rustoleum on my aquariums with no issues.
  5. If you decide to have the 2x4s cut for you the best option is to have it done at a lumber yard as opposed to a big box store (Home Depot or Lowes). You have a much better chance of getting someone who gets the cuts right.
  6. As they used to say on Monty Python... And now for something completely different! Welcome aboard.
  7. I think you need to go back to the drawing board. Not only are the legs thin and light on bracing but they’re re also too far in from the corners. Aquariums are designed to be supported at each corner.
  8. So I have a pair of Discus (Red Cover & a very Blue Cobalt) playing house on the filter intake in my 120 gallon display (Discus) tank. They’ve claimed that side of the tank as their own and are doing a very good job of keeping the rest of the inhabitants away. Unfortunately I don’t have an unoccupied tank to put them in right now. Keeping my fingers crossed they can do the good parent thing until I can free up a tank.
  9. Just a airflow control valve. I’ve been using this setup on a Tetra Whisper dual output air pump for over a year with no issues.
  10. Congrats @Daniel, @MickS77 & @Bill Smith I’m sure your fish will enjoy the Care Package.
  11. Thanks ForestJenn & Dean. The person who made this claim never put any context into his statement. I wouldn’t be surprised if he was breeding them in a small tank with parents that were very aggressive in defense of their fry.
  12. Put a short piece of airline with a valve at one end on the outlet you’re not using.
  13. Someone in an Apistogramma forum I’m in claims that Nannacara anomola goes out of it’s way to kill cory’s. Have any of you seen or heard of any dwarf cichlids in general or anomola in particular exhibiting this behavior?
  14. My fish eat them but it’s not the feeding frenzy like when they get the real thing.
  15. I have Inkbird controllers on my tanks. They’re reasonably priced, allows you to setup temperature ranges and quick temperature adjustments among many other things. They just work well.
