    I use an under gravel filter in my planted 29 (set up for only 2 months). So far so good. I used 3 inches of eco complete to help keep the roots further away. If in 5 years the filter gets clogged, i will pull the tubes and install a hang on filter.

    Hikari micro pellets linger a while, but they are not my fishes favorite. They float at first but eventually work their way down.

    I hate pest snails. I have been hand picking them and if they get out of control, I will use copper. I don't have any other snails in this tank.

    Nice selection of food. I wing it on what and when. I currently have bug bites, frozen blood worms, tetra flake, Hikari sinking wafers and hikari micro pellets.

    I periodically skip a couple of feeding days. You fish will be fine.

    I have my larger containers in the refrigerator and refill smaller containers that are kept at the tank.

    I use eco complete and have a dozen Cory's and kuhli loaches without issue.

    I agree with checking the impeller. I have a powerhead on a large sponge filter and when the sponge gets clogged the flow is constricted but it doesn't get loud.
