thats what i thought, thanks

ive had something similar where my water would not clear up due to the corydoras stirring up a bunch of debris. For me the solution was the amount of filter floss, less is better as more will clog. I also clean my sponge filter a few times a year, when i have fry to feed, the rest of the time i just let it run in the tank,so i dont think ACO sponge filters really need cleaning that often. Not sure if this will help, but maybe it will.

@Harpy welcome to our forum! plenty of nerite keepers on here (myself included). what are you feeding Bob? i know mine wont eat prepared foods, and ive heard that from many other people. Hopefully we can help you upgrade your tank and get some fish, in this size tank i dont recommend any more tank mates,
-
@JaredL that fish definitely appears to have eggs. have you tried doing a colder water change? also maybe drop the ph some more slowly with a few Indian Almond Leaves.

Competition: Snail Needs A Name!
Theplatymaster replied to Theplatymaster's topic in General Discussion
yeah, thats pretty much what happened here. Its just sometimes i need ideas, and sometimes the ideas come to me. Sorry about that. Im just a comic nerd, and the snail is big, tough, black (well dark purple ),and fast, so the name fit. i thank you for your kind words, and so does this guy: and for more of my horrible names, this is Batmobile's friend Smaug.- 27 replies

as @Lennie pointed out, you can see the different in old VS new shell growth here in color. (its not just the lighting) its not as dramatic as the change Algaecide has with her shell, i just cant get her on camera, because she is noctunal- 377 replies

@Fresh Princess the bobby pins will probably work for keeping the plants rooted, you can also purchase plant weights for this purpose. Also scarlet temple is a difficult plant to grow due to its VERY high lighting requirements, so that would explain the melting.

Theplatymaster's NEW journal: A treacherous 20.
Theplatymaster replied to Theplatymaster's topic in Photos, Videos & Journals
@Chick-In-Of-TheSea Batmobile found the zucchini: and Smaug is here too! @nabokovfan87 im working on my old design, with a wider hole, and a shorter uplift tube. These were my flaws last time. Im unsure if ill actually print and use this, but i felt better fixing the design. I hate it how complex the basket is on the tidals, otherwise id just 3D print my own, with many flaws fixed.- 377 replies

Theplatymaster's NEW journal: A treacherous 20.
Theplatymaster replied to Theplatymaster's topic in Photos, Videos & Journals
first of all, am i the only one the ACO blog hasnt updated yet for, ive seen no new articles all day? i think its because ive finished FINALLY breeding my cories, so ive been working on some aesthetics now. after moving around some gravel this morning, 2 things bothered me. The obvious pile of gravel added for the sword, and obvious locations of removed gravel. Now im not sure yet about what to do to make the removed spots look good, that still bothers me, but for the back area, i covered it in river rocks, so it apears like a sword growing out of a pile of rocks, and the obvious slope up is hidden. this is a small step to getting this tank to where I think it looks good, but its a baby step. what do you guys think of the rock pile? my other goal for this tank is effective colony platy breeding, which i dont have right now at the rate i want. (like 1 or 2 survive per month, but im not sure). so these rocks should also provide more hiding spots more platy fry. @Chick-In-Of-TheSea unfortunately at the moment both mystery snails are in locations I can see, but not catch on camera, so ill see if i can post pictures later.- 377 replies

i ended up replacing it with zucchini. I also saw Smaug eating some zucchini earlier. Oh, i made some scaping things, that i think makes the tank look slightly better, its baby steps. ill post about that in a few minutes...- 377 replies

Competition: Snail Needs A Name!
Theplatymaster replied to Theplatymaster's topic in General Discussion
An odd name, but fitting. also i believe this is correct: ive seen some new shell growth that apears purple, but its nothing like the shell change Algaecide the nerite is going though- 27 replies

i assume apistos are rather predatory... but that makes sense. -
we have normal and oceania. i dislike just normal game though, and ALWAYS play oceania.

ok, just wondering as BBS can really help fish spawn. Maybe add some dithers to the tank, something like endlers, that will add some hormones and pheromones to the water to help them breed. but thats just a thought. -
