    It’s ironic to me that I’m pretty sure my environment was not suitable for panda corydoras, yet the ember tetras are spawning lol.

    Hey all, I bought this wave pump from the co op for my 20 gal long and it does a great job circulating the water, but I’m afraid it does too good of a job. My poor ember tetras were swimming in one spot against the current constantly while I tested it today. Is there any way to stifle the flow a little bit?

    So there was a lot going on in my tank today.... I had to fish out some sick panda corydoras, I tried to add a wave maker that I believe is unfortunately too strong for my 20 gal long... and through out all this madness I saw what I believe to be a baby ember tetra?!? I have 7 of them and the only other fish were the panda corys... and I know they weren’t breeding. How is this possible? Could there be more? I had a hard enough time netting the corys there’s no way I could ever catch this tiny thing lol (sorry the pic isn’t very good I had to snap it in a hurry.

    Hello all, So I noticed this white stuff on this panda today during feeding... I also noticed him flash once too. Any thoughts? ammonia 0 nitrites 0 nitrates 20 pH 8.0 gh very hard (300) Kh 180 temp ~77-78 heavily planted 20 long with 2 sponge filters with air stones, 7 panda corys, 7 ember tetras, 5 amano shrimp and 3 nerite snails.

    Hello everyone, Apologies if this has been asked before... but how would I go about trimming a dwarf aquarium lily? It is so happy in my tank that I have too many lily pads! They are starting to block a lot of light in my low tech tank so I’m worried about my other plants getting enough light. Is it as simple as trimming some of the lily pads at the base of the bulb? Will I hurt anything? I’m used to trimming stem plants but not lily/bulb plants. Thanks guys!

    I’m pretty sure my boyfriend think’s I’m crazy... because he’ll come home and find me sitting in my corner staring at my fish tanks.... he asks how long long I have been there... I respond, oh, I just fed them so not long.... reality is it’s been 45 minutes 😂

    I have 3 nerite snails in one tank, and 3 baby mystery (also pond and baby rams hitchhikers) in another tank. The nerites will hide for a couple days at a time... long enough to make me start looking for them with purpose, then all of a sudden there it is! My baby mystery snails are all over the tank... I have pretty large gravel so its hard for them to burry themselves but they sure do hide as well. I have lids on both tanks because they all will go on walk about if I give them the chance.

    I’ve been having the same problem with all 3 of my sponge filters. I read that it does not affect the performance of the filters... so I’ve just been living with it. I too have shortened the tubing of the air stone as much as humanly possible. I’ve also made sure each sponge filter is sitting completely straight and neither of those things worked. It doesn’t seem to be hurting anything 🤷‍♀️

    I have 2 aqua sky lights, one on a 20 gal long and one on a 10 gal. All the plants I have are specifically low light and they’re growing great (also with easy green). I even have spacers for both tanks. The 20 gal long is raised almost 12 inches since the light wasn’t reaching the corners of the tank when it was sitting on the frame. The 10 gal is raised about 4 inches so my floating plants get light in the corners. I have all the settings at 100% for 8 hours, with 1 hour ramp up and 1 hour ramp down. Here’s pics of the 2 tanks. The 20 gal is just after trimming my pogo stemon and the 10 is right after I set it up. (Currently the water wisteria is growing like crazy!)

    So I have a planted 20 gal long tank with eco complete and I’m looking to get 6 sterbai corydoras... I’ve read multiple sources that say you’re not supposed to gravel vac a planted tank... yet I’ve also read multiple sources that say if cory’s don’t have very clean substrate their barbels could become damaged and infected... I’m not concerned about the eco complete being “too rough” as much as being “too dirty”. Thoughts? TIA

    Hi everyone! So I just wanted to share my second tank... it was originally supposed to be a quarantine/hospital tank but it quickly became a real tank. Also, I had ordered some water wisteria and red root floaters from etsy that came ripe with "pest" snails. I have pond snail babies, ramshorn babies, and I just adopted 3 mystery snail babies from a friend of mine... so it has now become a snail tank lol. I really wanted a lid on the tank due to the mystery snails but wanted good gas exchange for the floating plants, so I decided to try a grate lid made for reptiles with some modifications. I'm thinking of maybe adding some cherry shrimp once my plants fill in a bit more... any suggestions on what type of fish I should add in this 10 gallon?

    Like others have mentioned, I became interested in the hobby from wanting a betta fish... then reading a few articles, which led to youtube videos... which led to Cory and aquarium co op. After reading about cycling tanks, and the many, MANY different methods of fish keeping, Cory's method resonated with me. I too liked the Idea of growing underwater plants and basically experiencing the trial and error of the path I've decided to take. I am still very new to the hobby but simply planting my tank and watching the plants grow was already rewarding... Creating an ecosystem within itself is rewarding in a way I didn't think possible. I have an entirely new level of respect for fish keeping as a hobby and a profession.

    I had an anubias from co op that I suspected rot. I contacted customer service and they confirmed. They refunded my money right away. When I took it out of the tank the rhizome was mush and had fungus growing around it. It also smelled horrible. Definitely rotten. I however did not glue it to anything, I simply wedged it between 2 rocks. None of my other plants seemed to be affected... granted that was the only anubias I had at the time. I have now added a few anubias nana petit and so far so good!

    I have very hard water... and so far in my tank I have a lot of pogostemon stellatus octopus, cryptocoryne wendetii red, java fern, java fern windelov, dwarf sagittaria, dwarf aquarium lily and micro sword. So far the plants are doing well and growing fast. The only one I’m not too sure about is the dwarf sagittaria... but I’ve already trimmed and replanted a bunch of pogostemon. Some plants were melting a bit and showing some signs of nitrate deficiency so I’ve started dosing easy green twice a week and am planning on adding some root tabs to my eco complete soon since I’ve had it for a couple months. So I guess the moral of my story is any issues I’m having I wouldn’t attribute to having hard water! But that’s just my humble opinion of course.

    Would you guys mind playing another game of “ID this algae”? My diatom algae is finally resolving but now this is forming in it’s place. It looks kinda blue/green to me... but I have not seen it in person before so any opinions are welcome! Thanks!

    Yes, sorry for the poor wording. Although an automated water changing system is as close as we can come to “water change app” 😂

    Anyone think The aquarium co op team would be amazing at designing a aquarium water change app? I realize there is a need for such an app since the few that are out there aren’t very intuitive. I find it more of a pain to use those apps than just writing everything down.

    Hello, So I’ve had my planted tank for about a month and a half. I have eco complete substrate and so far the plants are doing great. I have 2 cryptocoryne plants planted directly behind my dwarf aquarium Lilly. I dramatically underestimated the growth I’d get out of the aquarium Lilly and it has basically created a canopy over the crypt, completely blocking them from view and light. Ok, to the point finally... Is it harmful to the crypt to uproot them and move them? I haven’t placed any root tabs or anything yet as the eco complete still seems to be doing it’s job. So I guess I’m torn wether it’s more harmful to move the plants or leave them partially obstructed. Thanks everyone!

    So I bought 3 Nerite snails and 6 Amano shrimp to help with diatom algae... and I’ve bought some crab cuisine and algae wafers for when the algae runs out... and well... it’s running out! They’ve done an amazing job. But now I’m concerned my snails aren’t getting enough food. I definitely see the shrimp go after the crab cuisine. I tried a blanched zucchini and no snails were interested. I haven’t tried the algae wafers yet but I’m concerned because of course the bag says to only feed what they’ll eat in a few minutes... but like... they’re snails. Lol it’ll take them forever to find the food. Should I just leave it in the tank and let it dissolve?
