  1. Somehow one of the cords on my USB nano air pump got damaged, causing it to short and not work. Earlier this week, I was able to cut out the damaged section and splice the wires without much hassle. I'm so glad these are nicely made. It's a good feeling when you can repair something vs throwing it away.
  2. Yesterday I took my first batch of platy fry to my local fish store. It was my first time ever selling and I was super nervous. Would they like them? Would I "do it right"? Would the fish transport nicely and show well once we got there? The store asked that I bag the fish in a gallon ziploc, and just for fun I used my USB nano air pump to throw an air stone in the bag for the 30 minute ride to the store. I think it helped make a positive impression when I delivered. It was a great experience. The store owner LOVED all 10 fish and offered cash or store credit right out of the gate. I told her I'd happily take the store credit and would follow up soon to see how the fish did for her. She said she expects them to do great and hopes that I bring lots more, and said any other livebearers I wanted to breed would have a buyer waiting. I'm so encouraged.
  3. Just an update. Found this fish dead today. Never really noticed any difference in its behavior. Not sure what happened.
  4. My guess is bulk rolls of that sweet sweet airline tubing.
  5. I noticed this tetra has developed dark markings on its body. Any thoughts on this? It seems to be acting fine but the coloration is abnormal. I’ve had it about a year now.
  6. How do you rinse yours @Dean’s Fishroom? What sieve do you use? @Cory do you have an Easy Sieve in the works? Ziss SF-1 maybe?
  7. You're probably good with a full pump a week on that tank. Sounds like there's a lot of plants in it to take the nutrients, and your stock isn't going to generate a huge bioload to help feed them. Easy Green is hard to mess up. I'd give your tank a full pump, check the Nitrates just to ensure they aren't over 40 ppm, and then watch your plants over the week to see how they react or if you just end up with algae. My guess is your plants will love it and you won't have any issues.
  8. Great job Liz. Those little tweaks look like they've made a nice difference.
  9. To piggyback on the topic of Pogos, can I propagate them by cutting off the new growth and replanting, or will they send out runners like val does?
  10. Congrats @Daniel @Bill Smith and @MickS77 and thanks @Lizzie Block and @Cory for doing this. What a kind thing to do for a very deserving group of folks.
  11. I use a Co-Op pre-filter sponge on it. In the filter area, I kept the stock white foam in the filter holder, and then maxed out the rest of the space in it with coarse foam. I topped the foam holder with bio rings.
  12. Came in from doing yard work to find my 10 gallon leaking from the side seam so my mandatory furlough "vacation" day off turned in to a clean-up and fish rescue operation. Thanks to the Dollar Per Gallon sale, I was able to quickly replace the 10 with a 20. I'm actually kinda glad this happened because when I started to pull out my java fern and vallisneria, I realized I have waaaaay more red wag platy fry that I suspected. The extra room in the tank will be nice as they grow.
  13. Thank you so much for the suggestions! I didn't know it would grow underwater. This is perfect!
  14. My wife just told me we have brand new Red Wag Platy fry today. I didn't think the female would drop fry for another week or so but sure enough there's little babies the size of a grain of rice. New fry are always a pleasant surprise.
  15. I want a heater / HOB filter combo. It makes sense to me. Both are items you size to the tank volume, so why not combine them? It'd be sweet to come up with an aftermarket impeller / heater insert that would work in an Aquaclear so you only have one plug to plug in.
  16. @Leo2o915 Yes, you can use the Advanced Search and then search By Seller's Location.
  17. Any suggestions for floating Pothos in a summer tub? I'm looking for suggestions that'll keep the roots immersed but keep the leaves out of the water enough that I can get them to vine over the side. I tried wiring a basket over the edge but the plant kept falling in to the tub, soaking and rotting the leaf. And with evaporation it was hard to keep the roots in the water.
  18. I would think the Co-Op might have them. The store would be my first choice. @Cory has done videos in the past. You could also try Aquabid or GetGills. Both have them listed right now if you search for "Heterandria formosa"
  19. I think you could have a sweet Least Killifish setup with a 10 gallon. Bonus that you likely wouldn't need a heater, meaning more room in the tank. You could also do a fun Endler tank if you wanted more color and action.
  20. Dropped in a extra air stone. I love that you can plug 2 usb nano air pumps in to one power adapter
  21. Ditto to what @Mammoth Tusk said. Also, a quick Google search with the seller's name can tell you a lot. That said, it can often just be a judgment call; a hobbyist may not have much of a rating or review history just because they only sell on there infrequently. I steer clear of negative reviewed sellers, but those with minimal or no positive reviews aren't automatically "Nope" for me.
  22. Where'd you get that haul of snails? I followed some suggestions online to go to a big-box store and ask for their "pest" snails to get some MTS, but only ended up with bladder and pond snails.
  23. I'm interested in this too. The Fluval setup is tempting to try on my 10. My hope is it would reduce some of the algae I deal with. If anyone has photos of their setups and recommendations, I'd love to see it.
  24. How does the CARES program work? It’s not something I’m familiar with, but @Guppy Guru mentioned it in his latest video.
