  1. Not a bad idea, just not sure how many are Big Thicket natives! That list of minnows is daunting!
  2. I'm totally fascinated with native species, and I'd really love to do a Texas species tank. I found a nice resource to start with here. I'm just clueless on how I would source a lot of these.
  3. Very limited on space, so we are a nano tank household. We have a 14, 10, 5, 3, and 2.5 gallon.
  4. Yeah in my experience burying them deeper doesn't help, I'll have to try the needle trick. Too bad they just can't pack them without air.
  5. Definitely. I've never owned one that was exact. Usually I have to keep them a couple of degrees lower. I have a IR thermometer I use, and I have a couple of digitals in a few tanks.
  6. Welcome back! Ask all your questions, there's some knowledgeable folks here!
  7. Yeah, the gelatin caps come popping up like wacky inflatable arms guy. Not a fan of that part. We use a turkey baster to remove them.
  8. I've had mostly good luck with most online places as long as I did my research. Look at their reviews, look at their shipping and DOA policy. Email them and ask questions if you are unsure about any part of the process. We are in rural Texas, and like you our options are limited. I can certainly recommend AquaHuna, I've never used AquaBid.
  9. This is going to sound silly, but I just didn't want to scrape the eggs away and let them go to waste. This way we will have bladders and a couple more knuckleheads to join the crew.
  10. These guys are the Barbarian Brothers, new recruits from AquaHuna to bring balance to the Bladder Snail apocalypse. Also, they are adorable!
  11. Jethro Tull, Thick as a Brick is a prog masterpiece. Styx, not so much lol, definitely some prog elements with the heavy keyboards, but more just a rock band. Jethro Tull is closer to prog than heavy metal (which they won a grammy for).
  12. I definitely recommend floaters like @Guppysnailmentioned. Frogbit has really long roots the betta loves to hang around in. I love the Annubias Nana Petite, we glue the root structure to a rock, then bury the rock in the substrate to anchor it without covering up the rhizome.
  13. *sigh* Its only a matter of time with baby brine in our house.
  14. Yes, this is what I was trying to say.
  15. Just add half, or a tad more.
  16. Definitely! Some Rush, some Yes, a little sprinkling of Kansas. I am a prog nut.
  17. The extremely talented Pete Jones. A blind multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and vocalist. Currently the lead singer for Camel, Tiger Moth Tales, and a project called CYAN.
  18. I agree with Lefty, Embers are great. There are actually a lot of tetras or rasbora that would do well in that tank. Neons, rummy nose, silver fin, harlequins, etc. All of those are also easy to find tankmates for, like corydoras. or otos.
  19. Are you looking to make it a community tank, or more of a showcase of one or two bigger fish?
