  1. Lucky you! Mine is growing, finally, but very slowly! 🙄 So sorry about the losses. It is always a hard pill to swallow… 😔
  2. I have both kinds, and could not say I prefer one to the other. They both take patience and lots of constant learning, which is what I like about them. I have spent more money on the FW, but am learning to propagate like I do in the garden (both plants and critters). The SW is easy because I gather ocean water, and am just learning to adjust the chemistry so that WC take place once a month or so. Also, I have not purchased any critters for the SW tank. I built the tank and the sump, and the most expensive item was the chiller. My FW tanks are all nano (biggest is 12 gallons) and am now getting to the point of understanding their needs and wants after two years. I left for two weeks, and my 3 gallon has perfect parameters, clear water, and it is now due for a water change just for good measure. Like with any endeavor, there is always some one who tries to sell you way more than you really need. I think that is the hardest lesson to learn. They are my drama boxes, and keep me out of trouble! 😁
  3. Welcome to the Puffer family! He is simply adorable, and aware of the camera in a funny way! Does he/she have a name yet? 🐡
  4. Yes, and I have the "salty" version! It was a beautiful day. We went down for our son's college graduation, so it was a few days of fun, too much food, but fortunately lots of walking as well. That, is a pearl! I almost broke a tooth when I bit into it. It was a delicious oyster, and it gifted me this pearl. The little black dot may be an impurity, but it makes it look like an eye. So, I got a "popeye" to go with the peas! The critters in the SW tank got the leftover bits of oyster, and Ursula was beside herself! 😆 I am sure she was full, but kept asking for more! Thank you. I missed my Nerms! 🤪
  5. Can't say I was stressing about the tanks and critters while I was gone... View from my now favorite bar:
  6. I just got back after almost two weeks, and was happy to come home to no disasters. No tank leaks, no deaths, just some attitude from one of the pea puffers. A very dirty sump, so, clean socks. I will do a more thorough clean this weekend, but parameters are great so I am not going to obsess. I did not feed them while I was gone. Just gave the sump a good clean, increased the light period and the intensity to provide algae as food, and that was all there was to it. Thrilled to see the macros take off! One new anemone, and critters are getting big! I cleaned the tank from diatoms and it was like a frat party in there! They love the stuff! This little pod was catching anything that floated past him! Even the limpet is growing macros!
  7. Mine survived ten days of my absence. They were happy to see me and get food. The pea puffer, on the other hand, is being like a cat and giving me the cold shoulder. 🤪
  8. Even though it is not my LFS, it is as local as it gets! I was visiting San Francisco and made a point at stopping at Ocean Aquarium. @Cory et all did a video on this gem, and it was worth getting there and spending time with Justin and Ady. Justin even pointed out the little place that Dean likes to sit at and chat about fish. I wish I could have stayed longer! I could not buy fish, but got some great pieces of wood and came out a lot wiser! Ady in the shop:
  9. I am a fan of WCMMs and loving mine to pieces! I think these guys look great in your tank! 😍
  10. Seems all my tanks eventually get overrun by shrimp! And it is not the tap water, as this is pure ocean water! Most of the females appear to be berried, and I am hoping for more shrimplets so that there is food in the tank while I am gone. 🦐 On a side note, got the NO2 and NO3 back to zero. And without a WC! Chemical filtration is scarily efficient! 🤪 Will do a WC when I return.
  11. Looking good, evolving nicely. I hope your little friend is a Phidippus johnsoni and not a Black Widow!
  12. Ouch! I hope everyone, especially your daughter, is okay. This things happen, mistakes are always made. 😟
  13. It looks like you have more NO3 consumers than water producers. It is not unusual to see the NO3 at zero in a heavily planted/lightly stocked tank with such large water changes. All my tanks read zero, and I do not fertilize. A second test for sanity's sake won't hurt, though.
  14. I am glad I can provide a little bit of happiness every now and then. 🙂
  15. That is a beautiful tank, @Fish Folk! I do not breed critters (intentionally, at least), but have learned that DP is not for me, as the dwellers turn them into PT. The “dis” prefix is dropped very quickly and they go about redecorating, and usually the end result is quite pleasant and interesting. Most definitely not “Green Aqua” standards, but they are happy and keep me happy. At the end of the day, that is what matters to me most. Your breeding journals are always fun and you share very useful information, so, thank you! 🙂
  16. Mine would have to be Fluval Stratum. I started out with it because I had shrimp, but eventually came to realize it was not the right choice for a planted tank. Plants have a hard time staying in the substrate, and it traps gunk. I have since switched to a thin layer of play sand and am much happier. There is no need to vacuum, and I let the plants figure out where they want to send their root system. 😎
  17. It is an amazing product. I have it in FW and SW tanks, and they work great! Well done Coop! 🤩
  18. The rockweed and other macros are doing a fantastic job with the nitrates in this tank! I was also very happy to see some significant growth in the reds:
  19. Ahhh, nice! You can also pass on the tidbit about her having good table manners. She is done with the clam, and did not burp! (Not sure about the worm...) Mr. Bliss and the other limpets are doing a good job with the diatoms in the back. Right back side is almost cleaned up!
  20. @Guppysnail is the kebab expert. I make little silicone cube trays. They freeze very well.
