  1. I took advantage of a couple of hot days to let the tank sit outside to soften the asphalt seals. It helped a lot with the removal! Still lots to do, but the more I work on this tank, the more I like it! 😍
  2. Swaying tentacles in the current, beckoning like a mermaid…
  3. I have been successful in keeping a Nerite snail, Amano and Neocaridina with my pea puffer. I am sure they eat a few of the shrimplets, but neos reproduce quickly. One of the pea puffers is in a 3 gallon tank, the other in a 7 gallon, both heavily planted and with lots of hiding spots. The tanks have been running for almost two years. 🐡
  4. I shall take a picture when the lights are fully on. It has been an interesting couple of days with outside temps in the 90F range, mid 80’s indoors. The tank is holding great, no sweating except a little bit on the vinyl tubing, so I wrapped it insulating foam. The chiller is acting up a little and may need to be replaced, so I am not looking forward to that. Ocean visits have been met with red algae bloom (Red Tide) so I am not touching the water.
  5. I love it! And can I have whatever you put in your coffee??? 😂
  6. Agree on the adorable. I would love to have some of it! 😍
  7. Thank you, @Hobbit! I have tried all sort of BBA and it just does not want to grow for me. In any of my tanks! As an experiment, I put some in the Pygmy corydoras tank, but Elmer (CAE) ate all of it in less than a day. He is becoming a big boy! I can give up. Some experiments succeed, some fail. Moving on, so I’ll focus on keeping the WCMM happy. 😄
  8. I agree with @LaloJ in an ideal beginner volume. My tank is 36 gallons with a 15 gallon sump and I am just starting to have macros grow in the tank to help with NO3 export. I do not have a refugium due to space constraints and the cold water aspect limits my choices of algae. Filtration is essential as the amount of waste produced is impressive, so I rely heavily on mechanical and chemical filtration. A skimmer is a must IMHO. @Robert has an AIO marine tank, so he could also chime in. If you want more info, my tank can be found in my PSB signature link.
  9. It may not look like much, but I have coralline algae inside the skimmer tube. Woot! Gobies having a quiet evening moment: Girl showing eggs:
  10. The gobies definitely know it is Summer. Early morning and evening they are very active, and mostly swimming to the surface hoping to catch some bugs. They are fun little swimmers, even though they spend the colder months perched on a surface and showing very sedentary habits. I love these critters! 😍
  11. I hope the meds help! 🐡 Poor little Globo...
  12. How did I miss this??? What a fun project! 😍
  13. I love hidden latches! I have a desk from 1930 that has a secret compartment, and in order to access it you have to remove the correct drawer and push the latch. This is more my scale. Beautiful work, @Atitagain! 😍
  14. This was last night's feast for the White Clouds! Another serving went to the gobies in the PSB.
  15. Today I allowed myself a few minutes with the tank. I decided to look into the lighting hood. The actual socket cannot be used as it has completely corroded. But the hood has been cleaned, and the bad parts removed. I may end up making an LED mount and using a long light inside the hood. The hood looks nice after the cleaning.
  16. Ohhh, thank you @Guppysnail! I am happy to now know what it is! I absolutely love it! 😍
  17. As I continue to enjoy different algae, I have not been able to identify this beautiful soft algae mass. It is in three of my tanks, snails (including Nerite), Amanos, CAE and Neos won't eat it, and it is covering rocks and wood alike. I love the look of it, but can't seem to find a name to go with it. There is Staghorn to the left in this picture, but I am interested in the one on the right side: TIA
  18. I shall wilt imperially in a metric fashion at those temperatures!
  19. I am so sorry you are going through this, @dasaltemelosguy. Events like this can leave so exhausted and perplexed, (you, and @Colu, and other forum members helped me get through when I had the CPD and Lampeye disease), especially when you think you are doing everything right. After my last experience with Columnaris, I am now keeping the fish in quarantine about six weeks. I know it may seem excessive, but sometimes it takes a long time for some diseases to manifest and start spreading. I hope they pull through, and can have a happy life in your tank. You can be the aquarium philatelist on the forum! 😉
  20. Mr. Peas wants it for his desk, so I am good with that. I have to finish another project that has a pending deadline, then I'll continue with this . So far it has been a fun start! 😎
  21. What a great read! Thank you all involved for the effort you have put into this project. A very useful gift to the aquarium community! 😍
  22. TBH, I do not have high expectations for this heater. I use Archaea heaters in my other tanks and am quite happy with them, so I may go that route with this tank as well.
